Engineering Manager (Platform)
Our client is looking for an Engineering Manager to lead their Platform team, working hybrid in Sydney. You’ll manage engineers spread across different locations and time zones, drive the platform roadmap and priorities, and have the authority to make the final call on technology direction.
Day to day
- Lead the team day to day, including 1:1s, career development, hiring and team health
- Own the backlog and deliver against agreed outcomes
- Set direction for infrastructure automation, CI/CD, developer enablement and reliability
- Make timely, well reasoned technology decisions and explain the thinking
- Partner with cloud operations from the start so work is ready to run
- Represent the team to engineering, product and other stakeholders
Experience Required
- 7 to 10 years of engineering experience, including 2 to 3 years leading engineers
- Experience leading distributed teams
- Ownership of a delivery backlog and roadmap, ideally for an internal developer platform
- Decisive judgement, plus a collaborative style and a record of growing engineers
- Robust platform background: hands on AWS, containers, observability, Terraform or CloudFormation, CI/CD and Python
- SaaS experience
- Large scale data experience
- FinOps and cost optimisation
- Experience enabling AI assisted software delivery
