The secondary English faculty currently consists of two teachers, providing an opportunity to work closely with colleagues within a smaller teaching team.

About the Position

This full-time position involves teaching English across Years 7–10, commencing on 20th January 2027.

The initial appointment will be a 12-month contract ending on 19th January 2028, with the potential to transition into a permanent position if the appointment is successful and all parties are happy to continue.

The successful teacher will deliver engaging English lessons, support students’ literacy and analytical skills and maintain explicit classroom expectations.

This position would suit an adaptable and collaborative teacher who is confident teaching junior secondary English and comfortable working within an Islamic school environment.

Salary and Benefits The successful candidate will receive:

- A salary between $90,000 and $130,000 plus super, depending on qualifications and recognised teaching experience

- Relocation assistance of up to $5,000 for eligible candidates

- Assistance through the school’s community network to help secure initial accommodation
- The potential to transition into a permanent position after the initial 12-month contract




- The opportunity to work closely with colleagues within a small English faculty

The school does not provide permanent housing. Accommodation support is intended to assist relocating teachers while they arrange their own longer-term housing.

Skills and Responsibilities

- Plan and deliver engaging English lessons across Years 7–10.

- Support students’ literacy, analytical thinking and academic development.

- Develop effective learning programs, assessments and classroom resources.

- Maintain high standards of student safeguarding, wellbeing and classroom practice.

- Monitor student progress and provide meaningful feedback.

- Communicate clearly with students, families and colleagues regarding learning and assessment.

- Collaborate with the English faculty on curriculum planning, assessment and consistent teaching practices.

- Contribute positively to the school’s values, expectations and wider community.

Requirements

Teaching Area: Candidates must hold relevant secondary teaching qualifications and be confident teaching English across Years 7–10.

Communication Skills: Strong written and spoken English skills are essential.

Work Rights: Full Australian working rights are essential for this role.

Safeguarding: Applicants must provide two current referees and complete HARKE’s onboarding process to meet safeguarding requirements.
