Modular has had a big year in WA. There's $49 million of government backing, and around half of current social housing builds now use alternative construction methods. Suddenly everyone's an expert. You were pricing it before it was a press release.

I'm Andrew from Itch. Modular still gets compared to flat-pack furniture. It isn't, but here are your assembly instructions anyway.

CONTENTS OF THE BOX (what's in it for you)

- $150K to $190K + super, depending on experience
- A brand new role. No predecessor, no inherited spreadsheet
- South of the river, with parking on site
- Major accommodation camp tenders for some of Australia's biggest miners
- The real split: 50% commercial manager, 30% technical coordinator, 20% cost engineer

ASSEMBLY STEPS (the job)

1. Work with the Bids team on RFTs, RFQs and EOIs, and flag the commercial and technical risks
2. Price the whole camp: prelims, materials, trades, foundations, civils, cranage, installation, power, water and wastewater, labour, flights, commissioning and demob
3. Get and compare pricing from civil, electrical and hydraulic contractors, HVAC suppliers, freight providers and crane crews
4.

Build the manufacturing, delivery and installation schedules, and know what a slipped date does to the cost
5. Pull engineering, procurement, construction, logistics and HSE together, write the clarifications and departures, and compile the submission

TOOLS REQUIRED (the must haves)

- Estimating experience in modular, camp, construction, infrastructure, mining services or EPC
- Can read drawings, specs and scope, and spot what's missing
- Comfortable running several big tenders at once
- Confident with everyone from engineers to subbies
- Bonus points for PAX calcs, DWER and DoH servicing, remote logistics or camp relocations

THE HONEST BIT Several tenders often run at once, so the deadlines are real. The upside is that your number is the one that counts.

FINAL STEP
