Position: Estimator / Quantity Surveyor / Sales - Projects - Balustrades & Handrails & Architectural Metalworks - BRIGHT BALUSTRADING - Commercial Projects

Industry: Architectural Metalwork Fabrication Engineering Trade. Fabrication Supply and installation of metalworks projects in Sydney

Location - Onsite: Bankstown, NSW 2200

Employment Type: Full-time Permanent / Part Time

Salary: Starting $80k-$90k AUD per year base package + 12% Superannuation + Performance Bonus/Commission. Based on experience and performance

The role is responsible for projects estimation & quantity surveying & BOQ preparation, client communication, quotation preparation & submission with a primary focus on winning metalworks packages

Establishing and maintaining relationships with high value clients, winning live projects, tendering on projects to ensure a consistent and full pipeline in line with capacity and maintaining minimum margin requirements

Competitively pricing and submitting proposals and working on the best projects with the best clients in the Sydney Metropolitan Area.

Projects Estimation Tasks

· Review architectural drawings, specifications, finishes schedules and project requirements.

· Prepare project estimates and cost breakdowns for balustrade systems.

· Perform material take-offs from plans including plan views, elevation views, section views, detail drawings and

· Quantity calculations and Architectural plans markup. Lineal meters, square meters, each items etc

· Review specifications, reports and finishes schedules.

· Calculate material costs, fabrication duration and labour costs, and installation costs.

· Surface finishing costs. Powder coating, painting, hot dip galvanising etc

· Obtain and review supplier pricing for materials and components.

· Communicate with clients to clarify project requirements and technical details.





· Respond to client enquiries regarding pricing, specifications, and proposed solutions.

· Prepare and issue quotations based on project scope and estimated costs.

· Ensure quotations accurately reflect project inclusions, exclusions, and specifications.

· Identify potential cost risks, design limitations, and project variations.

· Recommend alternative designs or products when the initial design is impractical, unsuitable, or not cost-effective.

· Propose cost-effective alternatives without compromising safety, quality, or compliance.

· Coordinate with internal departments and suppliers to confirm pricing and technical requirements.

· Revise estimates and quotations following design changes or updated project information.

· Follow up on submitted quotations and respond to client feedback.

· Maintain accurate records of estimates, quotations, and client communications.

· Ensure detailed understanding of project constraints such as vertical and horizontal movements such as onsite cranage by others, hoists, positive lifts

· Understanding of safe access requirements. Scaffolding, EWP, working off harnesses, SWMs etc

Skills & Experience Required:

- Minimum 1 year of estimating experience for balustrades, handrails, fencing, or other architectural metalworks such as facades, structural steel or other relevant metalworks trades and projects
- Minimum 3 years quantity surveying and take-offs and BOQ preparation, plans reading and marking up experience
- Strong ability in preparing “first principle” estimates for residential and commercial projects ranging $10,000 to $1,000,000
- Proven success working with builders, suppliers, and stakeholders
- Solid cost planning and reporting experience
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel & Adobe & BlueBeam
- Detail-oriented with strong analytical and organizational skills
- Ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment
- Experience with construction scheduling and cost tracking tools is a plus
- Writing and speaking and communication skills 10/10
