An exciting opportunity exists for an experienced Events Manager to take ownership of a busy and established Events Department on an initial 12-month contract. Reporting directly to the Chief Operating Officer, this position will oversee the planning, coordination and delivery of a diverse events calendar, including corporate conferences, gala dinners, awards nights, school formals, community celebrations and major special events.
Leading a team of approximately 5–7 professionals across event operations, sales and coordination, you will combine strong people leadership with operational expertise and commercial accountability.
Key responsibilities include
- Lead, mentor and develop the Events team, fostering a positive, accountable and high-performing culture.
- Oversee the planning, logistics and execution of multiple events, ensuring exceptional service standards and seamless delivery.
- Manage departmental budgets, staffing, resources and operational costs to achieve strong commercial outcomes.
- Build and maintain relationships with corporate clients, suppliers, community organisations and key internal stakeholders.
- Collaborate across operational departments, drive process improvements and provide hands-on leadership during major events.
Candidate Profile
The successful candidate will be an accomplished events professional with a genuine passion for hospitality, strong commercial awareness and a proven ability to lead teams in a fast-paced environment.
You will be highly organised, adaptable and confident managing multiple priorities while maintaining exceptional client relationships and event delivery standards. A hands-on leadership style and the ability to engage effectively with stakeholders at all levels will be essential.
To be considered, you will demonstrate:
- A minimum of three years' management experience within events, functions, hospitality or a comparable operational environment.
- Proven experience leading and developing teams while overseeing complex event logistics and delivery.
- Robust financial acumen, including experience managing budgets, departmental costs and operational performance.
- Excellent communication, stakeholder management and problem-solving skills, supported by a relevant tertiary qualification.
- Current RSA certification and flexibility to work evenings, weekends and public holidays as required.
Experience within a large hospitality venue, registered club, convention centre or similarly diverse events operation will be highly regarded.
