- Prepare payment runs for management approval.
- Maintain accurate financial records in Xero, including bank and credit card reconciliations.
- Process payroll and maintain superannuation and leave records.
- Prepare BAS information and liaise with our external accountant.
- Track construction retentions, release dates and outstanding retention payments.
- Allocate labour,
materials and subcontractor costs to the correct projects.
- Monitor company and project profit and loss, identifying discrepancies and cost overruns.
- Prepare monthly reports covering profit and loss, cash flow, overdue debtors and project costs.
- Maintain clear records and communicate financial issues promptly to management.
What we’re looking for
- Proven experience in bookkeeping or an accounts role.
- Strong practical knowledge of Xero is essential.
- Construction industry experience, particularly with progress claims, variations, retentions and project costing, is highly regarded.
- Confidence following up outstanding money and resolving payment queries.
- Experience with payroll, reconciliations and BAS preparation.
- Ability to understand and track profit and loss reports.
- Strong attention to detail, organisation and time management.
- Clear communication skills and professional handling of confidential information.
- A reliable person who works independently, follows tasks through and keeps management informed.
What we offer
- A key role within an established, family-owned building company.
- A supportive office team and direct access to management.
- Varied work across residential remedial and commercial construction projects.
- Remuneration based on experience and capability.
