I’m Ben. I run Schuster’s Painting out of Springwood. We make tired houses happy across South Brisbane, East Logan and the Bayside, and I’m after an experienced painter to join our crew.

I’ll save us both some time. If you’re hoping to turn up, point at walls and watch other people paint them, this isn’t for you. I want someone on the tools all day, cutting their own walls, whose work is valuable enough that the rest of the crew lifts just by working next to them.

The work

Interior and exterior repaints, mostly in homes people are still living in. Drop sheets down, shoes off where it matters. My test is simple: would I trust you in my own home? Our clients are trusting us with theirs. Crews run from 2 to 5 painters, including apprentices who’ll learn more from watching you than from being told.

Monday to Friday, 7am to 3pm. Weekends pretty much never.

The bit that’s different

Most weeks we’ve got two jobs running at once. Whoever runs the second one gets an extra $40 a day for every day they’re running it. It comes with the job, not a badge. On the big jobs the lead rotates,

so nobody carries every headache and nobody gets frozen out.

You’ll need

- Cert III Painting and Decorating (or equivalent) and 5+ years on residential repaints
- Driver’s licence, your own vehicle and a White Card
- Your own basic kit. We supply the gear, you bring the brushes and scrapers you like using
- To actually like prep. Skip the sanding and we’ll know by lunch
- To turn up on time and think a plan for the day is a good idea

You’ll get

- $40–45/hr, full time, PAYG, super on top, plus the run-a-job allowance
- Work booked weeks ahead
- An owner who’s off the tools and handles quoting, clients and scheduling. You’re painting, not chasing materials or answering client texts at 9pm

To apply: hit apply, or text Ben on (phone hidden) A résumé’s optional. Tell me in two lines what you’ve been painting lately.

Pay: $40.00 – $45.00 per hour

Expected hours: 40.0 per week

Work Location: In person
