A.W. Steicke & Sons is an Australian family-operated agricultural business involved in horticultural production and post-harvest handling. Our operations include the growing and processing of nuts, including pistachios, and the handling of other horticultural produce, including fruit and vegetables.

We are seeking a Facility Supervisor to oversee product handling, quality control and dispatch activities at our horticultural processing facility.

Position description The Facility Supervisor is responsible for ensuring the correct handling of horticultural produce to meet customer requirements, including grading, packing, cool-chain management, hygiene and dispatch.

Key duties and responsibilities

- Ensure correct handling of product to meet customers’ requirements, including grading, packing, cool chain, hygiene and dispatch.
- Assess incoming product regarding quality and determine grading resources.
- Monitor quality of product through various stages in the production shed, washing, first, second and final grading.




- Rectify any issues due to mechanical damage or grading quality.
- Liaise with the Harvest Supervisor, Maintenance Manager and Dispatch Manager.
- Ensure all Quality Assurance (QA) records are correct, allowing for complete traceability.
- Manage correct cool chain when handling and dispatching product.
- Ensure all personnel are trained and performing in accordance with standard procedures.
- Ensure all waste products are handled in accordance with standard procedures.
- Ensure all dispatches are completed in accordance with standard procedures.

Skills and experience Applicants should have skills and experience relevant to supervising horticultural produce handling, grading, quality control and dispatch operations.

Employment conditions

- Full-time employment with A.W. Steicke & Sons.
- Annual salary of AUD $79,423 plus superannuation, subject to applicable salary and market-rate requirements.
- 38 ordinary hours per week, with employment conditions in accordance with applicable Australian workplace laws and the relevant labour agreement.
