Disability Support Workers (Mentors) | High-Intensity, Complex Care & Behaviour Support

More than a support worker. Be someone who makes a genuine difference.

Are you a compassionate, confident and capable Support Worker who loves making a meaningful impact?

We're looking for exceptional people to join our growing team of Mentors, supporting individuals with complex care needs to live fulfilling, independent and empowered lives.

We're particularly interested in Mentors who have experience with youth participants, high-intensity personal care, complex behaviours and positive behaviour support, or those who are genuinely eager to develop their skills in these areas.

We're not just looking for qualifications on paper. We're looking for people with patience, emotional intelligence, initiative and the ability to build genuine, trusting connections.

What does the role involve?

You'll provide personalised, meaningful support to participants with a range of support needs, including:

- PEG feeding and care – supporting participants with enteral feeding requirements.
- Seizure and epilepsy management – recognising seizure activity and responding appropriately in accordance with individual management plans.
- Positive Behaviour Support (PBS) – implementing individual Positive Behaviour Support Plans (PBSPs), recognising triggers and using proactive, respectful strategies.
- Trauma-informed support – creating safe, trusting and empowering environments through a compassionate, person-centred approach.
- High-intensity personal care – assisting participants with complex daily living and personal care requirements.
- Community participation and independence – helping participants achieve their individual goals and engage meaningfully in everyday life.

Don't have experience in every area? That's okay! Our Registered Nurse provides participant-specific clinical training and competency assessments for high-intensity supports, including PEG feeding and seizure management.

You'll receive the necessary training and be assessed as competent before undertaking these specialised support tasks.

Who are we looking for?

We'd love to hear from you if you:

- Have previous experience in disability support, complex care or a related field.
- Are calm, confident and capable of responding to complex situations.
- Understand the importance of dignity, choice, independence and person-centred care.
- Have excellent communication skills, emotional intelligence and professional boundaries.
- Are reliable, proactive and genuinely passionate about improving people's lives.
- Are willing to learn, develop new skills and work collaboratively with our clinical and operational teams.

Highly regarded experience:

- PEG feeding and enteral nutrition support.
- Seizure management and epilepsy support.
- Positive Behaviour Support Plans (PBSPs).
- Trauma-informed care and de-escalation strategies.
- Supporting individuals with complex behaviours, autism, intellectual disabilities or high-intensity care needs.

Essential requirements

- Current NDIS Worker Screening Clearance.
- Current First Aid and CPR certification, or willingness to obtain.
- Current driver's licence and reliable transport where required.
- Blue Card where required for participant supports.
- Willingness to complete mandatory and participant-specific training.

Why choose Alya Care? At Alya, we believe great support starts with outstanding people.

We value our Mentors and recognise the important role they play in creating positive outcomes for the individuals and families we support.

You'll have the opportunity to develop specialised skills, work with a supportive team and build meaningful relationships with participants.

Ready to make a difference?

If you're an experienced Support Worker looking to expand your skills, or you're passionate about delivering exceptional care to people with complex needs, we want to hear from you!

Apply today and tell us what makes you a great Mentor.

At Alya, it's more than a job. It's an opportunity to make a difference that truly matters.
