About the role

NQ Estimating & Civil Services is seeking an experienced Final Trim Grader Operator to join our team on a casual basis. Based in Cairns, QLD 4870, this role is integral to ensuring the precision and quality of our civil construction projects. As a Final Trim Grader Operator, you will be responsible for operating grading machinery to achieve the exacting specifications required for project completion.

Your expertise in fine-tuning earthmoving operations will directly contribute to the successful delivery of high-quality civil works.

Key responsibilities

- Operate grading machinery with precision to achieve final surface specifications on construction sites
- Interpret project plans, engineering drawings and specifications to ensure accurate grade placement
- Conduct pre-start machinery inspections and perform routine maintenance checks
- Communicate with site supervisors, surveyors and other team members to coordinate grading operations
- Monitor blade depth and positioning to maintain required tolerances and surface finishes
- Maintain accurate records of work completed and machinery hours
- Adhere to all site safety protocols, procedures and relevant legislation
- Respond promptly to site instructions and adapt to changing project requirements

What we're looking for

- Current and valid grader operator licence or certification appropriate to the machinery being operated
- Proven experience operating grading equipment on civil construction projects
- Strong ability to read and interpret engineering plans and specifications
- Demonstrated precision and attention to detail in fine grading operations
- Solid understanding of civil construction site safety requirements and procedures
- Reliable, punctual and skilled approach to work




- Strong communication and teamwork skills
- Physical fitness and ability to work in outdoor conditions and varying weather
- Experience with GPS-guided grading systems would be advantageous
- Previous casual or contract work experience in construction is desirable
