Take ownership of the finance function within an established, project driven business where your financial insights directly influence operational performance.
Industry Talent is partnering with an established and highly regarded business operating within the engineering and industrial services sector to recruit an experienced, commercially minded Finance Manager.
This is an exciting opportunity for a hands-on finance professional who enjoys working closely with operations, understanding project performance and providing meaningful financial insights that drive business decisions.
Operating as part of a larger, well-established group, the business offers the best of both worlds: the autonomy to take ownership of the finance function, combined with the support and resources of an experienced corporate finance team.
With established financial systems, reporting processes and a comprehensive handover available, you'll be well supported as you transition into the role.
The Opportunity
Reporting to senior management and working closely with operational and project teams, you will take responsibility for the day-to-day financial management of the business.
A significant focus of this position is project accounting, job costing and margin management, ensuring individual projects are accurately costed, monitored and reported on.
This is not a purely corporate accounting position. You'll be closely connected to the operational side of the business, providing financial visibility and commercial insights that support project delivery and profitability.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage the day-to-day finance function, including month-end processes,
general ledger reconciliations and financial reporting.
- Oversee project accounting, including the allocation and monitoring of labour, materials and associated project costs.
- Prepare and analyse project profitability, margins, budgets and financial performance.
- Partner with Project Managers and operational leadership to identify cost variances and improve commercial outcomes.
- Deliver accurate monthly and quarterly financial and management reports.
- Coordinate annual budgeting, forecasting and financial analysis.
- Oversee accounts payable, receivable, payroll reconciliations and cash flow monitoring.
- Maintain fixed asset registers and assist with capital expenditure analysis.
- Coordinate audit requirements and ensure compliance with relevant financial obligations
- Identify opportunities to improve financial processes, reporting and operational efficiencies.
About You
We're looking for a commercially minded finance professional who enjoys being hands on, takes ownership of their work and can confidently engage with operational stakeholders.
Ideally, you will bring:
- Experience as a Finance Manager, Management Accountant, Project Accountant or Senior Accountant.
- Strong exposure to project accounting, job costing, cost allocation and margin analysis.
- Experience within engineering, construction, manufacturing, mining services, maintenance or another project-based industry.
- Sound technical accounting skills, including month-end reporting, reconciliations and budgeting.
- The ability to interpret financial information and communicate meaningful insights to non-finance stakeholders.
- Confidence working autonomously and managing competing priorities.
- Robust attention to detail, initiative and a practical, solutions-focused approach.
- Experience with ERP or project accounting systems will be highly regarded.
What's On Offer?
- highly completitive salary depending on experience.
- Take ownership of a broad, autonomous finance function.
- Work closely with operational leaders and have a direct impact on project profitability.
- Join an established business backed by a respected and financially stable group.
- Benefit from established reporting systems and a supportive handover.
- Enjoy a varied role combining technical accounting, commercial analysis and business partnering.
- Long-term career development opportunities within a larger group.
- Convenient Darwin location, just minutes from the CBD.
- Relocation support considered!
