Take responsibility for Australian financial reporting workstreams, work with established local teams and external finance providers, and collaborate directly with UK Finance leadership on a flexible APAC remit.
The prospect
ProPharma is seeking a qualified finance professional to help maintain reliable financial control and reporting across its Asia-Pacific business. Australia will be the initial focus, with involvement in other APAC markets depending on business needs and the successful candidate’s experience.
Much of the routine processing is undertaken by local teams and external accounting, payroll, tax and audit providers. Your focus will be to review their outputs, understand what the numbers mean, investigate discrepancies and coordinate the work needed to deliver accurate reporting. You will report to the Vice President, Finance in the UK.
Why consider this role?
- Meaningful ownership: take responsibility for defined close, review and reporting activities connected to the Australian business.
- International visibility: work directly with UK Finance leadership and coordinate with colleagues and providers supporting APAC entities.
- Breadth of financial control: combine month-end analysis with statutory reporting, audit coordination, cash-flow monitoring and external-provider oversight.
- An established operating model: work with local colleagues and specialist providers already supporting the relevant entities, rather than building the network from scratch.
What you will do
- Coordinate month-end close and financial reporting for assigned entities,
initially focusing on Australia; investigate and explain movements against prior periods, budgets and forecasts.
- Review profit-and-loss results, balance-sheet positions and key reconciliations, challenging discrepancies and following issues through to resolution.
- Coordinate external accounting, payroll, tax and statutory providers, reviewing deliverables and following up on deadlines and corrections.
- Maintain oversight of accounts payable, accounts receivable, invoicing and payroll outputs, without owning routine transaction processing.
- Support statutory accounts, tax and compliance obligations, and year-end audit activities alongside external specialists.
- Monitor cash positions, contribute to cash-flow information and identify items requiring Finance leadership attention.
- Work with APAC stakeholders and UK Finance to improve financial controls and reporting, and support other regional entities as assigned.
What we are looking for
You may be a Senior Financial Accountant, Group Accountant, Accounting Manager, Finance Manager or Assistant Financial Controller. We are interested in candidates who already own substantial elements of the financial-control cycle, even if they have not independently managed a regional portfolio.
Required
- A recognised professional accounting qualification, such as CA ANZ,
CPA Australia, ACCA or an equivalent.
- Practical responsibility for defined month-end close, balance-sheet review and financial reporting activities.
- Ability to investigate variances, challenge unsupported figures and explain financial results clearly.
- Experience supporting financial audits, statutory reporting or external accounting/compliance deliverables.
- Professional English communication skills and the ability to coordinate stakeholders and deadlines.
Preferred
- Multi-entity, Australian and New Zealand, or wider APAC finance exposure.
- Experience with external providers, offshore shared services, international group reporting or ERP systems such as Workday.
- Experience in pharmaceuticals, biotechnology, medical devices, healthcare or other regulated environments.

Practical details
Full-time, based in Melbourne on a hybrid working model, with regular collaboration with colleagues at the Melbourne office. The exact office-attendance arrangement will be confirmed during the recruitment process. The position reports to the Vice President, Finance in the UK. The APAC country portfolio is flexible rather than fixed from day one.

If you have a strong foundation in financial reporting and control and would like to apply it in an international finance environment, we would welcome your application.
