Fleet & Facilities Management Cadet
Southern Cross Transit | Ipswich
Start your career. Learn the fleet. Know the facilities. Grow with us.
Southern Cross Transit is looking for a motivated Fleet & Facilities Management Cadet to join our team. We’re not looking for someone with years of experience or someone who already knows everything. This is an entry level position.
We’re looking for someone with the right attitude, a willingness to learn and a genuine interest in vehicles, transport and fleet operations.
This cadetship is designed to give you practical, hands-on experience in the coordination and administration behind maintaining a safe, reliable passenger transport fleet, while being supported and trained by an experienced team.
What you’ll learn
You’ll be given the opportunity to develop practical skills across areas including:
- Workshop administration and day-to-day coordination
- Vehicle servicing schedules and maintenance planning
- Work orders, defect reports and repair records
- Fleet compliance, inspections and documentation
- Parts ordering, stock control and supplier liaison
- Vehicle registrations, records and fleet databases
- Coordinating vehicle movements and workshop priorities
- Communicating with drivers, workshop staff and management
- Workplace health and safety procedures
Learning how a busy passenger transport fleet is managed as your skills and confidence grow, so will your responsibilities.
Who we’re looking for
Experience isn’t everything to us - attitude is.
You could be a school leaver looking for your first opportunity, or simply someone at the beginning of their career who is ready to learn.
This role would suit someone who enjoys working around vehicles but is also organised and comfortable with computers, records and communication. This is a fleet management cadetship, not a mechanical apprenticeship.
You’ll be someone who:
- Is reliable and turns ready to work
- Has a positive attitude and takes pride in their work
- Has an interest in vehicles, workshops or transport
- Is keen to learn and isn’t afraid to ask questions
- Is organised and has good attention to detail
- Communicate well with drivers, suppliers and colleagues
- Is comfortable using computers and learning new systems
- Can work safely and professionally in a busy workshop environment
- Wants more than “just a job” and is interested in building a career
- A current driver licence would be an advantage but is not
essential.
What we offer
You’ll receive hands-on training and mentoring while learning how our workshop, maintenance systems and wider transport operation work together to keep our fleet moving safely every day.
Our goal is to develop the right person over time, build their knowledge and skills, and provide opportunities to progress within Southern Cross Transit.
This is a paid full-time position, with wages and employment conditions in accordance with the applicable industrial instrument.
Interested?
Send us your resume and a short introduction about yourself.
Don’t worry if your resume isn’t very long - we’re more interested in hearing about who you are, why you want the chance and what you’re hoping to achieve in your career.
If you’re ready to learn, work hard and build your future, we’d love to hear from you.
