Wollongong Golf Club is one of regional Australia’s premier member-owned golf clubs, renowned for its spectacular oceanfront championship course, outstanding member experience and commitment to delivering exceptional course presentation year-round.

We are seeking a motivated qualified Greenkeeper or current Apprentice Greenkeeper to join our Golf Course Maintenance team.

This is an opportunity for an experienced Greenkeeper to further their career, or for an apprentice who has already commenced their Certificate III in Sports Turf Management and is looking to transfer their existing apprenticeship to Wollongong Golf Club.

Please note: We are not seeking applicants looking to commence a new apprenticeship. Applicants must already be undertaking a recognised apprenticeship and be looking to transfer their training to our Club.

Reporting to the Course Superintendent, you will contribute to maintaining one of the Illawarra’s finest golf courses while working within a supportive and experienced team.

About the Role

You will assist with the daily maintenance and presentation of the golf course, helping maintain exceptional playing conditions for members and visitors.

For qualified Greenkeepers, this is an opportunity to apply your existing skills and experience across all aspects of golf course maintenance.

For current apprentices, this role provides the opportunity to continue your existing apprenticeship at Wollongong Golf Club, building on the training and experience you have already completed.

Key Responsibilities

- Carry out all aspects of golf course maintenance, including mowing, course set-up, bunker preparation, irrigation and turf management.

- Assist with the maintenance of greens, tees, fairways, surrounds,



gardens and landscaped areas.

- Operate and maintain turf maintenance equipment and machinery safely and efficiently.

- Assist with fertiliser, chemical and pesticide applications in accordance with workplace procedures and legislative requirements.

- Monitor turf health and help identify weeds, pests, diseases and irrigation issues.

- Assist with renovation works, construction projects and course improvement initiatives.

- Maintain a safe and clean work setting and comply with workplace health and safety requirements.

- Work collaboratively with the Course Maintenance team to achieve daily operational objectives.

- Contribute to an exceptional golfing experience through outstanding course presentation.

About You

You are reliable, enthusiastic and hardworking, enjoy working outdoors and take pride in being part of a team.

We welcome applications from

- Qualified Greenkeepers holding a Certificate III in Sports Turf Management.

- Current Apprentice Greenkeepers who are already enrolled in a recognised Certificate III in Sports Turf Management apprenticeship and are seeking to transfer to Wollongong Golf Club to continue their training.

To be considered, current apprentices must be able to provide details of their existing apprenticeship, including their training provider and progress to date.

You will ideally have

- Experience in golf course maintenance, sports turf or a similar outdoor environment.

- An interest in turf management, irrigation and golf course presentation.

- A willingness to learn,



develop new skills and take direction from experienced team members.

- A strong work ethic and excellent attention to detail.

- The ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.

- A proactive approach to workplace safety and continuous improvement.

- Flexibility to work early mornings, weekends and public holidays as required.

Qualifications & Requirements

- Qualified Greenkeeper applicants: Certificate III in Sports Turf Management is essential.

- Apprentice applicants: Must already be undertaking a recognised Certificate III in Sports Turf Management apprenticeship and be seeking to transfer their existing apprenticeship.

- Current Chemical Accreditation (AQF3), or willingness to obtain, is desirable.

- Current White Card is desirable.

- Current First Aid Certificate is desirable.

- Current unrestricted NSW Driver Licence.

- Australian working rights.
