CS Development Group

Brisbane

CS Development Group is seeking a Chief Financial Officer (CFO) to come aboard with us on a full-time basis, taking ownership of the numbers across our multi-entity property development and construction group.

This role’s oversight spans development, construction, investment, nominee and holding entities. The position combines strategic financial leadership with hands-on, day-to-day ownership of reporting, tax and group structure, working directly with the Principal and Corporate Advisory.

Duties & responsibilities:

- Own group and entity-level financial reporting, including consolidated monthly reporting, board packs, and intercompany reconciliations and loan accounts across all entities

- Lead project accounting across feasibilities, cost-to-complete, WIP, retentions, variations, progress claims and developer margin tracking

- Manage group cash flow and treasury, including the 13-week cash flow, project drawdowns, facility covenant reporting and financier liaison

- Oversee tax compliance including BAS/GST, income tax, payroll tax grouping, land tax and duty coordination, and manage the tax consolidated group with external advisers

- Drive strategic, forward-looking tax planning, including structuring of acquisitions, developments and exits, entity selection, Div 7A management, and tax consolidation entries and exits

- Own the group entity map, including intercompany loan schedules, unit and share registers and trust distribution records across holding, development, construction, investment, nominee and trust entities

- Lead group-wide financial planning, including budgets, rolling three-year forecasts, and modelling of funding requirements, equity contributions and distributions

- Manage statutory and compliance obligations, including ASIC requirements, annual financial statements, audit management and QBCC Minimum Financial Requirements reporting

- Oversee payroll, AP and AR, including subcontractor payments and Security of Payment timing

- Maintain systems and controls, including chart of accounts, job costing structure and intercompany processes across the group

Qualifications & capabilities:

- CPA or CA qualified, with 8 to 12 years post-qualification experience, including 3 to 5 years in property development or construction (both preferred)

- Multi-entity group and consolidation experience, comfortable working across 20 entities including trusts, corporate beneficiaries and nominee companies

- Proven experience in complex private group structures, including multiple trusts, corporate beneficiaries, tax consolidated groups and intercompany loans

- Demonstrated strategic tax planning experience, beyond transactional or compliance work

- Direct experience with QBCC MFR and development finance reporting

- Solid technical knowledge of GST for property, payroll tax grouping, Div 7A, land tax and tax consolidation

- Planning and modelling capability beyond reporting, with the ability to build a group forecast from scratch and defend the assumptions

- Experience managing external accountants, tax advisers and auditors, rather than being managed by them

- Comfortable operating without a team beneath them, building the finance function rather than inheriting one

- Desirable: experience with development finance facilities, covenant reporting and mezzanine or private credit structures

What we offer:

- A senior, standalone role with direct line of sight to the Principal and Corporate Advisory, and no layers between you and the decisions
- A rare opportunity to build and own the finance function for a growing, multi-entity property development and construction group

- Exposure across the full spectrum of finance, from group reporting and project accounting through to strategic tax planning and entity structuring

- Direct, hands-on involvement in a complex group of 20 entities, including trusts, corporate beneficiaries and nominee companies

- Significant scope and autonomy from day one, working closely with the Principal rather than through layers of management

About us:

CS Development Group is a Brisbane-based, founder-led property development and construction group. We're growing, and we need a senior finance leader to own the numbers across the whole group.

Join us and play a central role in building the finance function that supports its growth across development, construction and investment. Click Apply and submit your CV and a brief covering letter outlining your relevant experience in group finance, tax strategy and property or construction accounting.
