Lead Landscaper / Site Supervisor

WM Gardens is looking for a highly experienced, hands-on Lead Landscaper / Site Supervisor to join our growing team in Brisbane.

This is not an entry-level or junior landscaping position. We are specifically looking for someone with extensive, proven experience across landscape construction, machinery operation, horticulture and leading teams on site.

This position is for someone who can be given a project, a crew, our vehicles, machinery and equipment and be trusted to take ownership of the site and deliver the job properly from start to finish.

The Role

You will work hands-on alongside the team while taking responsibility for the day-to-day running of landscaping projects. You will be expected to organise and lead other workers, understand the scope of works, plan the order of works, operate machinery, maintain productivity, solve problems on site and ensure work is completed safely and to a high standard.

This is very much a hands-on leadership position. You will not simply be supervising from the sidelines — you must be physically capable and willing to work alongside the crew and perform all aspects of landscape construction.

Experience Required

Applicants must have extensive professional landscaping experience and be highly competent across a broad range of landscaping works, including:

- Retaining wall construction
- Excavation and earthworks
- Site preparation, levels and grading
- Drainage
- Turf preparation and installation
- Artificial turf installation – extensive hands-on experience is essential, as artificial turf projects will form a significant part of this role
- Paving and hardscaping
- Garden construction




- Planting and horticultural works
- Soil preparation and improvement
- Mulching and edging
- General landscape construction and maintenance

Strong artificial turf installation experience is a must for this position. Applicants must be confident completing artificial turf projects from site preparation and excavation through to base preparation, compaction, laying, joining, cutting and final finishing. Robust practical horticultural knowledge is also required, including a valuable understanding of plants, turf, soils, pruning, irrigation and general plant health.

Machinery Experience – Essential

You must be highly competent and experienced operating machinery and equipment, particularly:

- Excavators
- Skid steers / loaders
- Tipper trucks
- Ride-on mowers
- Compaction equipment
- Power tools and landscape construction equipment
- Utes, trailers and machinery trailers

Strong excavator experience is essential. We are looking for someone who can confidently and efficiently operate an excavator on active landscaping sites, not someone who has only had occasional exposure to one. You must also be confident towing and reversing trailers and operating vehicles and machinery safely in residential and commercial environments.

Leadership





You must be capable of leading a crew and running a site without constant supervision.

You will need to organise team members, delegate work, maintain productivity, monitor workmanship, communicate with management, identify and resolve problems and take responsibility for getting projects completed properly.

Previous experience as a team leader, leading hand, site supervisor or similar position will be highly regarded.

Additional Trade Experience

Broader construction and handyman experience will be highly regarded, particularly experience with carpentry, concreting, fencing, irrigation, drainage and basic plumbing or electrical work associated with landscaping.

Excellent tool knowledge and practical problem-solving ability are essential.
