You'll be encouraged to bring your ideas forward and make a difference through your work, while still having room for fun, friendships and flexibility in your daily life.
We're driven by our core values: lead with heart, learn for tomorrow and live our legacy. A purpose like ours takes the inspired impact of an incredible team. Ready to change the game? We're ready to help you do it.
The Purpose
As Lead Quality Engineer at AP+, you’ll be a hands-on technical leader helping our teams deliver reliable, high-quality payment experiences. You’ll help put our Quality Engineering strategy into practice, guide technical decisions and mentor peers, while contributing directly to testing across delivery teams. You’ll champion automation and AI-driven testing to improve quality, speed and coverage.
Key Responsibilities
- Mentor Quality Engineering peers and lead practices across the cohort, building collaboration, accountability and continuous improvement.
- Help implement AP+’s Quality Engineering strategy, aligning testing approaches with product and business goals and leading technical decisions where appropriate.
- Identify testable events, develop test cases and scripts, and perform hands-on testing. Manage test environments and results, provide clear reporting and support effective release management.
- Design, develop, execute and analyse testing across levels and types. Review requirements and specifications to shape risk-based test coverage and prepare teams for delivery.
- Design and improve test automation frameworks and strategies. Champion AI-driven automation and test case generation, using AI tools to improve productivity while maintaining code quality.
- Embed functional and non-functional testing in continuous delivery. Work with engineering, product and operations to improve tools and ways of working, and represent the Quality Engineering perspective across AP+ and with external stakeholders.
The capabilities needed to be successful in this role are:
- Qualifications &
Experience: Around 7+ years’
experience as a Quality Engineer, Senior Quality Engineer or in an equivalent role, including at least 5 years of hands-on web, mobile and API testing and 5 years’
experience or exposure to non-functional testing. An engineering degree or alternative pathway into engineering is valued; payments or financial technology experience is an advantage.
- Quality Engineering Delivery: End-to-end delivery experience in an agile organisation, with the ability to provide hands-on testing support across teams and squads and help keep delivery moving.
- Testing Strategy & Practice: Experience designing and executing functional, process, acceptance and non-functional testing, with risk-based coverage that reflects business needs and realistic operating conditions.
- Automation, AI & Tools: Experience building and using test frameworks and automation scripts, such as Cypress, Playwright, Jest, Appium or Selenium. You can champion AI-driven automation and test case generation, using effective prompting while maintaining code quality.
- Technical Leadership: The ability to make sound testing and technical decisions, mentor peers, share positive practice and contribute to a collaborative, accountable Quality Engineering community.
- Stakeholder Partnership: The ability to work across engineering, product and operations,
communicate test outcomes and risks clearly, and represent Quality Engineering to internal and external stakeholders, customers and vendors.
