An established global investment management business is seeking a Legal & Compliance Counsel to join its Sydney team on an initial nine-month fixed-term contract.

The role will suit an Australian-qualified lawyer with asset management or financial services experience who is looking to work across a varied portfolio of legal, regulatory, compliance and governance matters spanning the Asia-Pacific region. You will provide pragmatic, commercially focused advice and support the business in meeting its regulatory obligations across multiple jurisdictions.

Flexible working arrangements are available, with candidates seeking a four-day working week encouraged to apply. An immediate start is preferred, although candidates serving a notice period will also be considered.

Key responsibilities

- Legal & product documentation: Review and prepare fund offer documents, prospectuses, PDSs, TMDs, fund constitutions and related product documentation.
- Commercial agreements: Draft, review and negotiate investment management agreements, sub-advisory agreements and a range of institutional client and service provider contracts.
- Regulatory & compliance: Maintain compliance plans, policies, registers and monitoring frameworks,



supporting regulatory obligations across Australia and the broader Asia-Pacific region.
- Marketing & client communications: Review marketing materials, RFPs, DDQs, website content and client communications to ensure regulatory compliance.
- Governance & risk: Support entity boards and key committees, maintain risk documentation and contribute to risk assessments.
- Regulatory reporting & licensing: Assist with regulatory applications, filings, audits and ongoing licensing requirements, liaising with regulators and external legal counsel as required.
- Regional stakeholder engagement: Partner with colleagues across the region on legal, regulatory and business matters.

About you

- Australian-qualified lawyer with current admission as a legal practitioner.
- Experience within asset management or financial services in a legal and/or compliance capacity.
- Strong understanding of Australian financial services regulation and managed investment schemes.
- Experience with fund documentation, commercial agreements, compliance frameworks and regulatory obligations.
- Exposure to board governance, regulatory filings, audit processes and compliance monitoring.
- Asia-Pacific regulatory experience would be advantageous.
- Commercially minded, detail-oriented and comfortable managing competing priorities across multiple stakeholders.
