About the Prospect

Hatchit Studios is seeking an experienced Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS) Administrator to support a Federal Government department responsible for Australia's national measurement and scientific laboratory services.

This role will support the administration, maintenance and enhancement of critical LIMS platforms used across analytical, chemical and biological laboratories.

The successful candidate will work closely with laboratory teams, technical specialists and business stakeholders to ensure system reliability, resolve technical issues and deliver ongoing improvements.

Experience with LabWare LIMS, Thermo Fisher SampleManager or comparable laboratory information management systems is highly desirable.

Key Responsibilities

- Administer, configure, maintain and enhance LIMS platforms, including LabWare and SampleManager.
- Provide technical support, troubleshoot application issues and resolve system defects.
- Develop and maintain LIMS functionality using scripting and programming languages such as VGL, LIMS Basics, C#, Visual Basic, Java or SQL.
- Perform SQL queries, database troubleshooting, data extraction and data corrections.
- Monitor system availability, performance and reliability, supporting backup and disaster recovery procedures.
- Develop and maintain integrations between LIMS and other enterprise or laboratory systems.
- Collaborate with laboratory staff and business stakeholders to gather requirements and implement system enhancements.
- Manage user accounts, permissions, system configurations and routine maintenance activities.
- Prepare technical documentation, standard operating procedures (SOPs),



test plans and system reports.
- Support software testing, upgrades, change management and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Provide user training and collaborate with ICT infrastructure, database and security teams.

Skills & Experience Required

- Demonstrated experience administering or supporting Laboratory Information Management Systems (LIMS) in scientific, analytical or commercial laboratory environments.
- Hands-on experience with LabWare, SampleManager or equivalent LIMS platforms.
- Proficiency in SQL, including database queries, data extraction and troubleshooting.
- Experience with one or more programming or scripting languages, such as VGL, LIMS Basics, C#, Visual Basic, Java or HTML.
- Sound understanding of database administration, application support and system configuration.
- Experience in incident investigation, problem management and technical troubleshooting.
- Knowledge of system availability, backup, recovery procedures and application maintenance.
- Understanding of laboratory workflows, data integrity and quality management requirements.
- Ability to develop technical documentation, procedures and test plans.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving and stakeholder engagement skills.
- Ability to work independently, prioritise competing tasks and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams.

Highly Desirable:

- Experience supporting LIMS within accredited scientific or analytical laboratories.
- Familiarity with NATA accreditation requirements and laboratory quality systems.
- Experience developing LIMS integrations, reports or automated workflows.
- Previous experience supporting Federal Government or similarly regulated environments.
