About Maccabi NSW

Maccabi NSW is a community-based sporting and wellbeing organisation connecting people across the NSW Jewish community through sport, participation and shared experiences.

With a history spanning more than 100 years, Maccabi NSW supports 16 affiliated sporting and recreational clubs and around 3,000 playing members, alongside a broader network of volunteers, families and supporters.

From grassroots sport and youth programs to major events, carnivals, inclusion initiatives and wellbeing activities, Maccabi provides opportunities for people of all ages and abilities to participate, connect and build lifelong friendships.

Maccabi NSW works closely with its clubs, volunteers and community partners to strengthen participation, promote healthy and active lifestyles, and create opportunities that bring the community together.

At the heart of Maccabi is a simple purpose: connecting the Jewish community through sport and wellbeing. This role provides an opportunity to play a hands-on part in growing that connection, strengthening the Maccabi brand and helping more people discover and participate in what Maccabi has to offer.

About the role

Maccabi NSW is seeking an energetic, hands-on and highly capable Marketing Manager to help grow participation, strengthen community engagement and lift the visibility of Maccabi programs, events and clubs across NSW.

This role would suit an experienced marketer looking for greater flexibility and the opportunity to apply their skills in a meaningful, varied and hands-on role around three days per week.

You may currently be working in a marketing or communications role, running your own consultancy, working agency-side, or simply looking for a more flexible opportunity where you can apply your experience without the demands of a traditional full-time position.

This is a role for a practical marketer who can think strategically, execute quickly and take ownership from idea through to delivery. You’ll have the autonomy to make things happen while working closely with the Maccabi NSW team, affiliated clubs, community partners and other stakeholders.

The successful candidate will develop compelling campaigns that connect people with Maccabi through sport, camps, events, inclusion initiatives and community programs.

Key responsibilities

- Club marketing support: Work proactively with affiliated Maccabi clubs to strengthen their marketing, improve communications, promote registrations and participation, and provide practical campaign support, templates and advice.
- Campaign planning and execution: Develop and execute marketing plans for Maccabi NSW events and programs, including camps, Junior Carnival, All Abilities initiatives, community events and other participation programs.
- Community engagement and growth: Build campaigns that reach existing members while attracting new participants, families, volunteers and supporters across the NSW Jewish community and beyond where relevant.
- Email marketing and newsletters: Plan, write,

build and distribute regular newsletters and targeted email campaigns using Mailchimp, including audience segmentation, testing, scheduling and performance review.
- Social media: Manage and grow Maccabi NSW social channels, develop engaging content, maintain a practical content calendar, support paid and organic campaigns, and identify opportunities to improve reach and engagement.
- Content creation: Write strong, audience-appropriate copy for email, social media, websites, event promotions, flyers, presentations and community communications; coordinate simple creative assets and external suppliers where required.
- Data and insights: Use registration, membership, email, website and social data to understand audiences, track campaign performance, identify trends and opportunities, and make recommendations to improve conversion and participation.
- Audience segmentation and CRM: Help improve the quality and usefulness of Maccabi databases by segmenting audiences and ensuring communications are targeted, relevant and measurable.
- Digital and website support: Maintain and update campaign and program information across relevant digital channels and work with internal or external providers to keep content accurate, current and engaging.
- Partnership and stakeholder promotion: Support marketing commitments associated with sponsors, funders and community partners, including agreed acknowledgements, co-branding, reporting inputs and promotional activity.
- Events and activations: Provide marketing and on-the-ground support at selected Maccabi events, including occasional evenings and weekends, capturing content and helping maximise community engagement.
- Brand stewardship: Help ensure Maccabi NSW communications are consistent, professional, inclusive and aligned with the organisation’s brand and community values.
- Marketing calendar and reporting: Maintain a forward marketing calendar, coordinate deadlines across multiple programs, and provide concise reporting on activity, reach, engagement, registrations and campaign outcomes.

About you

You enjoy having ownership, working closely with people and seeing your work make a tangible difference. You’re comfortable moving between strategy, campaign planning, copywriting, digital channels, data and hands-on execution.

You are highly self-directed and comfortable working in a small team where you won’t always have someone telling you what to do next. You can take a brief, work out what needs to happen,

find solutions when you don’t have all the answers, and keep things moving. You know when to take ownership and when to ask for input.

You have strong attention to detail and take pride in producing work that is thoughtful, accurate and fit for purpose. You’re organised, practical and able to manage competing priorities without needing close supervision.

- Approximately 3-5 years of experience in marketing, communications, community engagement or a closely related role.
- A tertiary qualification in marketing, communications, business or a related discipline is preferred.
- Demonstrated experience developing and executing end-to-end marketing campaigns.
- Strong experience with Mailchimp or a similar email marketing platform, including segmentation, campaign analytics and database management.
- Strong working knowledge of major social media platforms and what drives effective community engagement.
- Confidence interpreting data and turning insights into practical marketing actions.
- Excellent written communication and copywriting skills, with strong attention to detail.
- Strong relationship-building skills and experience working with community organisations, members, volunteers, clubs or stakeholder groups.
- Highly organised, able to manage competing priorities and comfortable working independently in a small, fast-moving team.
- A proactive, resourceful and solutions-focused approach – someone who sees what needs to be done and gets it moving.
- Comfort using common digital marketing and content tools; experience with Canva, website CMS platforms, Meta Business Suite, Google Analytics or similar tools would be advantageous.

The three-day structure provides an opportunity for an experienced marketer to maintain a strong connection to meaningful marketing work while enjoying greater flexibility and balance.
