About Akari Education

Akari Education is a growing Australian tutoring service providing personalised, one-on-one support to students in Years 7–12 across NSW.

We believe that effective tutoring is about more than simply providing answers. It's about taking the time to understand how a student thinks, explaining concepts clearly and helping them build confidence in their own abilities.

We're looking for friendly, knowledgeable and reliable individuals to join our team as online Mathematics or English tutors.

About the Role

As an Akari Education tutor, you'll work individually with students through online lessons, adapting your teaching to their academic needs and learning styles.

Your responsibilities will include:

- Delivering engaging, one-on-one online Mathematics or English lessons.
- Helping students understand difficult concepts, complete schoolwork and prepare for assessments.
- Planning lessons around students' individual strengths, weaknesses and academic goals.
- Providing constructive feedback and monitoring student progress.
- Maintaining qualified and supportive communication with students, parents and the Akari Education team.

Who We're Looking For

We're particularly interested in university students, recent high-school graduates and experienced tutors who enjoy teaching and communicating with young people.

Our ideal candidate will have:

- Strong academic knowledge of Mathematics or English. You do not need to teach both.
- A sound understanding of the NSW curriculum for the year levels they wish to teach.
- Strong communication skills and the patience to explain concepts in different ways.
- Reliability, professionalism and a genuine interest in helping students improve.
- Access to a computer, stable internet connection and suitable equipment for online lessons.
- A valid NSW Working With Children Check, or willingness to obtain one before commencing work.

Previous tutoring experience is highly regarded but not essential. We value subject knowledge, communication skills and the ability to connect with students.

Pay and Benefits

- Competitive hourly pay: AUD $30–$40 per hour, depending on experience, qualifications and subjects taught.
- Work remotely: Deliver lessons online from a suitable location.
- Adaptable scheduling: Arrange your availability around university, employment or other commitments.
- One-on-one teaching: Focus on individual students rather than managing large classes.
- Opportunities to grow: Potential to take on additional students as Akari Education expands.

Our Hiring Process

1. Application: Submit your CV, preferred tutoring subjects, year levels and general availability.
2. Initial conversation: Shortlisted applicants may be invited to a brief online interview to discuss their experience and teaching approach.
3. Teaching demonstration: Selected candidates may be asked to explain a short Mathematics or English concept to demonstrate their communication and teaching skills.
4. Final checks: Successful candidates will complete the relevant Working With Children Check verification and onboarding requirements before commencing.
