Profectus is seeking multiple experienced Senior Network Engineers to support network design, build and transition activities within an Australian Government agency. You will work with Network Architects to develop and validate network designs, then plan, build, test and transition local and wide area network services into operational environments. The work covers implementation planning, configuration and build, network testing and verification, and resolution of complex network engineering issues.

Key Responsibilities

- Support Network Architects to develop, review and refine network architectures and technical designs
- Validate network designs against business, operational, security and performance requirements
- Develop detailed implementation plans, build specifications, configuration standards and technical documentation
- Plan and execute functional, integration, performance, resilience, verification, acceptance and security testing of network solutions
- Transition network services into operational environments, including documentation, support procedures and knowledge transfer
- Lead network planning for your area of responsibility and design the infrastructure needed to meet service level arrangements
- Analyse complex network engineering issues and recommend courses of action
- Manage the installation, upgrade, operation and control of LAN and WAN environments carrying data, voice, audio, text and images
- Undertake network installations as required
- Work with project teams, vendors and stakeholders across the design, build, test and verification lifecycle

Required Experience
- Degree in Computer Science, IT or a related field




- Minimum 3 to 5 years’ experience in network engineering or network administration roles
- Experience supporting enterprise-scale network environments
- Strong knowledge of network fundamentals, protocols, architectures, devices and topologies
- Strong knowledge of TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, NAT and routing protocols
- Strong knowledge of switching technologies and VLANs
- Experience with WAN technologies including MPLS, SD-WAN and VPN connectivity
- Strong knowledge of firewalls, network security technologies, wireless networking, and network monitoring and diagnostic tools
- Knowledge of current Defence and industry accepted network hardware and software products

Desirable Experience
- Delivery of large technology programs or projects using Agile methods and tools, ideally within a Defence setting
- Experience as part of a multi-disciplinary delivery team
- Experience with cloud networking platforms such as Microsoft Azure, AWS or Google Cloud
- Experience with infrastructure automation and scripting
- Exposure to ITIL service management practices
- Certifications such as CCNA, CCNP, Fortinet NSE, Palo Alto Networks, Microsoft Azure Network Engineer Associate or AWS Advanced Networking Specialty

Security Clearance Requirements
- Must be an Australian Citizen
- Must have a current AGSVA Positive Vetting (TSPV) Security Clearance
