About the Role

Working within the NaaS Platforms team, this role is critical in supporting Networks API Gateway operations and managing the end-to-end onboarding of business and network projects. The successful candidate will drive project delivery, ensure strict security and governance standards, and maintain the underlying infrastructure.

Key Responsibilities

Project Onboarding & Delivery

- Project Management & Requirements: Work closely with cross-functional business and Networks projects to gather platform requirements and manage in-flight projects.
- Solution Design: Assist with system design, traffic flow mapping, and developing Impact Assessments (IA) and commercial costings for new services.
- Documentation & Governance: Gather all relevant design, IP, platform, and service data. Maintain accurate records in document repositories and update Wiki/Confluence design documents.
- Security & Compliance: Enforce strict security and governance requirements, ensuring all correct processes are followed prior to any service going live.
- Tender & Procurement: Support the technical evaluation, assessment, and testing of recent solutions during tender and procurement processes.
- End-to-End Delivery: Support overall project delivery and integration via the Networks API Gateway and other NaaS Platforms as required.

Technical Implementation & Operations

- Change Implementation: Execute changes in both Lab and Production environments to support approved onboarding. This includes updating static routes, TLS Certificates (in Red Hat trust stores or within Apigee), and Virtual Host configurations.
- Testing & Troubleshooting: Support integration testing and fault finding. Collaborate with Project, IP, IT, and OSS teams to rapidly identify and resolve technical issues.
- Lifecycle Management: Perform necessary lifecycle upgrades and operational changes for the API Gateway platform.
- Incident Support: Provide occasional operational support during complex incident investigations and troubleshooting.

Skillsets & Experience

Infrastructure & OS Administration

- Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL): Strong administration and management experience, including static route configuration, log management/rotation, sssd/LDAP integration, Cron job scheduling, package management, and system hardening.
- Virtualization & Containerization: Experience with Virtualisation Hypervisors and a solid understanding of Kubernetes and containerized deployments (experience with Red Hat OpenShift and/or VMWare vSphere Hypervisor is highly regarded).
- Networking: Solid understanding of TCP/IP traffic flows, load balancing concepts, DNS-based GSLB capabilities, and the ability to use Wireshark/PCAP analysis for deep-dive troubleshooting.

API Gateway & Security

- API Development & Management: Strong understanding of API development processes (REST and SOAP).
- Gateway Policies: Experience with API Gateway capabilities and best practices, such as spike arrest, rate limiting, and throttling.
- API Security: Deep knowledge of API security standards including OAuth 2.0, API Keys, and JWT/JWX Tokens.
- Encryption & Certificates: Expertise in TLS/mTLS (Mutual TLS), including generating CSRs, signing certificates, and debugging complex client certificate issues.
- Web Application Firewalls: Understanding of Akamai WAF capabilities and configurations.

Automation & Delivery Processes

- Ansible Automation: Proven experience configuring, developing, testing, and integrating scripts using Ansible and/or Ansible Automation Platform (AAP) to manage platforms.
- CI/CD: Understanding of and experience with CI/CD pipelines, specifically using GitLab.
- Change Management: Robust rigor around Change Management processes and pre-testing, with a "Customer Experience first" mentality aimed at 100% change success with zero unplanned impact.

Recommended Additional Skills (Nice to Have)

- Platform Migration: Experience migrating infrastructure from VMware to Red Hat OpenShift.
- ITSM & Workflow Tooling: Experience managing intake and agile workflows using Jira.
- Observability: Experience creating or managing operational dashboards using tools like Grafana.
