About the role

Proconnect Logistics Pty Ltd is seeking an Ocean Freight Business Development Executive to join our dynamic freight and cargo forwarding team. This is a full-time position based in our Chatswood, NSW office. In this role, you will be responsible for driving sales growth in our ocean freight division, developing new business relationships, and maintaining strong partnerships with existing clients.

You will play a crucial part in our company's expansion strategy within the freight forwarding industry, reporting directly to management and contributing to the overall commercial success of Proconnect Logistics.

Key responsibilities

- Identify and pursue new business opportunities within the ocean freight market, including developing leads and managing the sales pipeline

- Manage customer interactions including fostering relationships, making customer calls with new and existing clients, understanding their freight forwarding needs and providing tailored solutions and closing deals

- Prepare and deliver competitive quotations for ocean freight services, negotiating terms and conditions to achieve profitable outcomes

- Provide expert advice to clients on shipping routes, container options, freight consolidation and cost-effective forwarding solutions

- Coordinate with internal operations, warehouse and logistics teams to ensure seamless execution of client shipments

- Track market trends, competitor activity and industry developments to identify sales opportunities

- Maintain accurate records of all sales activities, client interactions and opportunities within the company's CRM system





- Achieve and exceed monthly and quarterly sales targets and key performance indicators

- Attend industry events, trade shows and networking functions to build brand awareness and generate new leads

What we're looking for

- Proven experience in ocean freight sales, freight forwarding or a related role within the logistics industry (minimum 3 years)

- Strong knowledge of shipping procedures, international trade regulations, incoterms and cargo documentation

- Excellent communication and negotiation skills with the ability to build rapport with clients and internal stakeholders

- Demonstrated ability to identify current business opportunities and close sales in a competitive market

- Proficiency with CRM systems, sales tracking tools and Microsoft Office applications

- Understanding of container types, freight consolidation, and ocean shipping routes (particularly transpacific and Asia-Australia lanes)

- A results-driven mindset with the ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative sales team

- Valid driver's licence and willingness to travel for client meetings and visit customers and potential clients within assigned territory 3-to-4 days per week

- Preferred: Experience with freight forwarding software systems and familiarity with customs brokerage processes
