About the role

Altaira Recruitment Services is seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Organic Orchard & Operations Worker to join the Forest Orchard Team in Forest Range SA 5139. This is a full-time position that plays a vital role in maintaining and developing our organic orchard operations. You will be at the heart of our horticultural business, contributing directly to the production of high-quality organic fruit and the smooth running of our day-to-day operations.

This role offers the opportunity to work in a dynamic agricultural environment where your efforts directly impact the success and sustainability of our organic farming practices.

Key responsibilities

- Perform routine orchard maintenance tasks including pruning, thinning, and training of fruit trees to ensure optimal growth and yield

- Assist with irrigation system management and monitoring to maintain appropriate soil moisture levels

- Carry out pest and disease monitoring in accordance with organic farming principles and implement integrated pest management strategies

- Harvest fruit at the appropriate time using correct techniques to ensure quality and minimise damage

- Maintain cleanliness and organisation of work areas, equipment and storage facilities

- Operate and maintain horticultural equipment and machinery safely and effectively

- Support the preparation and maintenance of orchard beds, including mulching and weed management

- Assist with record-keeping related to orchard activities, seasonal tasks and crop management

- Work collaboratively with the broader operations team to support general farm maintenance and development projects





- Comply with all organic certification requirements and sustainable farming practices

What we're looking for

- Proven experience working in horticulture, orcharding or a related agricultural field

- Strong knowledge of organic farming principles and practices, or a commitment to learning and developing expertise in this area

- Physical fitness and capability to perform demanding manual labour tasks in various weather conditions

- Demonstrated ability to operate horticultural equipment safely and competently

- Excellent attention to detail and commitment to quality in all work undertaken
- A responsible and safety-conscious approach to work, with willingness to follow protocols and procedures

- Good communication skills and ability to work effectively as part of a team

- Problem-solving ability and initiative in identifying and addressing operational issues

- Flexibility and adaptability to seasonal work demands and changing priorities

- Valid driver's licence (preferred)

- Relevant qualifications in horticulture, agriculture or environmental management (advantageous)
