Do you enjoy getting the numbers right and being the person people trust to get paid correctly and on time? We're seeking a dedicated Payroll Officer for a large and successful national business, joining a friendly head office team.

You will work closely with the Payroll Manager and between you will pay around 600 staff on a weekly basis.

What you'll be doing

- Processing weekly wages accurately and on time

- Interpreting awards, enterprise agreements and employment contracts to apply the correct leave entitlements, overtime and allowances

- Assisting with workers compensation payments and reconciliations

- Completing payments and monthly reconciliations for payroll, superannuation, payroll deductions and PAYG

- Calculating and maintaining leave accrual records

- Setting up new employees and timesheets, and keeping payroll records up to date

- Preparing statistics, reports and forecasts for Payroll, Safety, HR and Operations

- Being the go-to contact for employees and managers on payroll enquiries

- Supporting year-end processes, including payment summaries and STP finalisation

- Helping with audits, and suggesting improvements to payroll processes

What you'll bring

- 2 years' payroll experience

- Experience with recognised payroll systems such as Micropay, Chris21, Aurion.

- A strong understanding of awards, agreements and relevant legislation,



including the National Employment Standards, superannuation and payroll tax

- Intermediate Excel skills for reporting and reconciliations

- Exceptional attention to detail and a high standard of accuracy

- Sound analytical, numeracy and problem-solving skills

- Strong business acumen and an understanding of how payroll affects the wider organisation

- Clear, confident verbal and written communication, with the ability to explain pay outcomes to a range of people

- Excellent organisation and time management, and the ability to meet weekly deadlines

- Discretion in handling confidential information

- Experience in a multi-site, shift-based or award-covered workforce is desirable but not essential
