About the role

We are seeking a Permanent Sales Person to join our Canberra store at Canberra ACT 2600. This is a full-time position where you will be the face of Makin Mattresses, delivering exceptional customer service and driving sales through product knowledge and persuasive selling techniques. You will play a vital role in achieving store targets and building lasting customer relationships that reflect our commitment to excellence in the retail sector.

Key responsibilities

- Greet customers warmly and identify their sleep needs and preferences
- Provide expert product knowledge about mattresses and sleep solutions to help customers make informed purchasing decisions
- Demonstrate products effectively, highlighting key features and benefits
- Build rapport with customers and establish trust to facilitate sales
- Process sales transactions accurately using point-of-sale systems
- Achieve and exceed individual and store sales targets
- Maintain a clean, well-organised and visually appealing store environment
- Handle customer enquiries and concerns professionally and courteously
- Support with stock management and inventory checks as required
- Stay updated on product ranges, promotions and company policies

What we're looking for





- Proven experience in retail sales, preferably in furniture, bedding or a similar customer-focused workplace
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to engage customers at all levels
- Natural sales ability with a track record of meeting or exceeding sales targets
- Excellent product knowledge or the ability to quickly learn and retain information about mattresses and sleep solutions
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team and independently when required
- Professional appearance and demeanour
- Reliability and commitment to consistent attendance
- Customer service excellence and a genuine desire to help customers
- Basic IT skills and comfort using point-of-sale systems
- Flexibility to work weekends and public holidays as required
- Preferred: Previous experience working in a mattress or sleep products retail environment
