Mantech Recruitment
Sydney
HPC Platform Engineer | Sydney | Kubernetes, Bare-Metal, Slurm A well-funded Sydney engineering company is hiring a Platform Engineer into the team behind its internal compute.
Some of the compute sits on hardware the company owns and some is in the cloud.
Responsibilities
- You’re be the person people turn to when a cluster is slow, a build is broken, or a team needs an environment by Friday.
- You’ll run and tune a scheduler-based compute cluster that handles heavy number-crunching, keep the build and release pipelines healthy across several product lines, and look after the container platform that internal tools run on.
- When something fails you find the cause, fix it properly and write down what you learned. Over time you’d turn hand-built setups into repeatable code, so a new environment takes hours instead of weeks.
Platform Engineer Requirements
- You’ve run a real compute cluster,
not just submitted jobs to one, ideally with Slurm or a similar scheduler.
- You’re comfortable with containers and Kubernetes day to day, you automate with tools like Terraform or Ansible, and you’ve owned a CI/CD pipeline rather than just used one.
- You’re robust on Linux and scripting, and you know the network basics well enough to chase down name resolution, addressing and time sync problems.
- Three or more years in platform, DevOps or infrastructure work is the benchmark.
Helpful extras: a research or scientific computing background, monitoring and dashboards, and wider network knowledge. If interested, please reach out with an updated CV & I'll be in touch.
