Pacific Talent Partners is proud to partner with a leading national provider of commercial design, approval, and construction solutions to appoint a Project Development Manager. This opportunity is ideally suited to a commercially astute professional with proven experience in project-based sales and a deep understanding of the end-to-end Design & Construct (D&C;) lifecycle.
The Role
This is a senior, project-led commercial role focused on driving front-end growth. The successful candidate will leverage their background in commercial interiors, retail, hospitality, or healthcare fit-outs to identify opportunities early, manage the tender and pitch process, and convert complex design concepts into signed contracts.
You will work closely with end users, medical operators, practice owners, consultants, and internal estimating teams to support clients' growth plans and translate their requirements into commercially viable, successfully delivered projects.
Key Responsibilities
- Originate and develop fit-out and construction opportunities across the medical, veterinary, commercial, or specialist services sectors
- Drive the front-end project sales lifecycle from initial pitch and site feasibility through to tender submission and contract closure
- Bridge the gap between client expectations and internal estimating/design teams to ensure highly competitive and commercially viable proposals
- Build and maintain senior-level relationships with business owners, operators, consultants, and referral partners
- Engage clients early to understand strategic objectives, growth plans, and capital works requirements
- Expand and manage a sustainable pipeline of qualified project opportunities aligned to long-term growth objectives
- Provide market insights and sector intelligence to inform commercial strategy and positioning
- Maintain disciplined opportunity tracking, forecasting, and reporting within CRM systems
- Collaborate internally to ensure client expectations are managed seamlessly from initial engagement through to project handover
The Candidate
- Demonstrated success in business development within a project-based D&C;, fit-out, or commercial construction environment
- Strong understanding of the construction tender lifecycle, project scoping, and conceptual pitching
- While previous experience in the medical/healthcare sector is highly advantageous, a proven ability to sell complex commercial projects is the absolute priority
- Robust commercial acumen with the ability to engage credibly in discussions around build feasibility, approvals, and project viability
- Proven capability in building trust, influencing senior decision-makers, and converting complex project pitches over longer sales cycles
- Disciplined approach to pipeline development and opportunity management
- Exceptional communication and stakeholder engagement skills
- Self-motivated, commercially driven, and comfortable operating autonomously
- Collaborative mindset with the ability to work closely with internal advisory, estimating, design, and delivery teams
The Offer
- Opportunity to join a growing national organisation with a strong reputation in highly resilient specialist sectors
- Role centred on driving the front-end D&C; engine and securing high-value, complex projects
- High level of autonomy with clear scope to shape commercial outcomes
- Exposure to complex, high-value projects within resilient and growing industries
- Supportive culture with genuine career progression opportunities
- Travel across key markets and client locations as required
