Company Description Shastram is an initiative dedicated to sharing the knowledge and practice of Indian Classical dance with mainstream and international audiences. The organization focuses on reshaping the image and presentation style of Indian Classical dance to make it more accessible and engaging. Shastram promotes the art form to wider audiences while documenting and preserving its traditions.

Role Description The QLab Operator will support Shastram’s live performances and rehearsals by programming, operating, and troubleshooting QLab during shows and technical runs. This contract, on-site role is based in the Greater Perth Area and involves close collaboration with choreographers, directors, and other production team members to ensure cues for audio, video, and lighting are executed accurately and on time. Day-to-day tasks include preparing QLab sessions, organizing and labeling cues, integrating media assets, and running technical checks before rehearsals and shows.





The QLab Operator will also assist in refining cue sequences in response to artistic feedback, maintaining backup files, and ensuring smooth technical operations during performances.

Qualifications

- Proficiency in QLab operation, including cue creation, editing, and show playback management.
- Experience working in live performance or theater environments, ideally with dance or movement-based productions.
- Strong technical skills with audio and video playback systems, basic understanding of signal flow, and familiarity with MacOS-based workflows.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with artistic and technical teams, communicate clearly, and respond calmly to live-performance changes.
- Robust organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple cues and versions of a show.
- Prior experience in stage management, production, or related performing arts roles is an advantage.
- Availability to work on-site in the Greater Perth Area during rehearsals, tech runs, and performance schedules.
- Interest in or familiarity with Indian Classical dance and cross-cultural performing arts is highly beneficial.
