Horseshoe Bay Cafe’ is seeking a Qualified Chef to join our culinary team in Bowen, QLD. This is a casual position for an immediate start, that offers flexibility whilst allowing you to contribute to our kitchen operations. Whether you are a fully qualified chef looking for casual work or an apprentice in the final stages of your training, this role will provide you with the opportunity to develop your skills in a dynamic hospitality environment. You will be based in Bowen and will be part of a team dedicated to delivering quality food and excellent service to our guests.

Key responsibilities

- Preparing and cooking a variety of dishes according to established recipes and plating standards
- Maintaining high standards of food hygiene, safety and cleanliness in the kitchen
- Assisting with food preparation, including chopping, marinating and portioning ingredients
- Working collaboratively with kitchen staff to ensure smooth service during busy periods
- Following standardised cooking methods and presentation guidelines to ensure consistency
- Monitoring stock levels and assisting with ordering where required
- Contributing to the development and refinement of menu items
- Supporting the training and guidance of junior kitchen staff where applicable

What we’re looking for

- Completed culinary apprenticeship or equivalent qualification as a chef, or current 3rd or 4th year apprentice undertaking formal training
- Sound knowledge of food safety, hygiene standards and kitchen best practices




- Proficiency in food preparation, cooking techniques and knife skills
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced kitchen environment
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to delivering consistent quality
- Good communication skills and ability to work well as part of a team
- Flexibility and reliability in a casual working arrangement
- Current food handling or equivalent certification is advantageous
- Experience in a commercial kitchen setting is preferred
