About the role

The Medical Receptionist is a full time role, Monday to Friday, working within a supportive team in a contemporary, purpose-built ophthalmology clinic on the Sunshine Coast, offering comprehensive eye care with full diagnostic capabilities. You will be the first point of contact for patients, representing the practice with professionalism and warmth.

Key responsibilities

Oversee front desk operations and keep reception running smoothly day to day

Be the first point of contact for patients, representing the practice with professionalism and warmth

Manage incoming calls and patient enquiries with confidence and empathy

Coordinate patient bookings, scheduling and follow-ups





Manage billing, payments and Medicare claims efficiently and accurately

Maintain accurate patient records, including scanning and filing

Provide administrative support to practitioners and the clinical team

About you

Proven experience in medical administration or specialist reception (ophthalmology preferred)

Excellent communication, problem-solving and customer service skills

Highly organised and diligent, with the ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment

Adaptable and flexible, comfortable working autonomously as well as in a team

Calm under pressure, well‑presented and patient‑focused

Robust computer literacy and the ability to pick up new systems quickly
