You will join a specialist team of estimators, cost managers and commercial advisors who bring deep experience from both the contracting and consulting sides of the industry. The culture is collaborative and technically focused, with senior team members readily sharing knowledge and a genuine emphasis on quality of output over volume.

Project work covers a broad range of civil infrastructure, including road and rail, bridges and structures, water and wastewater, utilities and enabling works. Engagements typically range from strategic business case and concept-stage estimates through to detailed pre-tender estimates, independent cost reviews and tender evaluation support.

This role offers exposure to a wide variety of procurement models, including construct-only, design and construct, early contractor involvement and collaborative delivery, as well as engagement with government agencies, asset owners, designers and contractors. It is an ideal environment for an estimator looking to broaden their perspective beyond a single contractor’s project book.

Responsibilities





- Prepare detailed first-principles estimates for complex civil infrastructure projects across all stages of development
- Develop cost plans, strategic estimates and business case estimates for transport, utilities and major capital works
- Build up rates from labour, plant, materials and subcontract inputs, with clear methodology, assumptions and exclusions
- Undertake tender analysis, bid evaluations and independent estimate reviews on behalf of clients
- Assess risk and contingency, contributing to probabilistic and deterministic risk analysis where required
- Review design documentation and construction methodology to identify cost drivers and value opportunities
- Present estimates and commercial findings clearly to clients, project teams and senior stakeholders
- Provide technical guidance and mentoring to junior and intermediate estimators within the team

What You Need

- 10+ years’ experience in civil infrastructure estimating within Australia or a comparable market
- Background with a tier 1 or tier 2 contractor and/or a specialist cost consultancy highly regarded
- Advanced first-principles estimating capability across major civil works packages
- Strong experience in cost planning, tender analysis and detailed estimate development on complex projects
- Proficiency with industry estimating software (e.g. CANDY, Expert Estimation, InEight or similar)
- Sound understanding of Australian procurement and contract frameworks, including AS4000 and AS2124
- Tertiary qualification in civil engineering, quantity surveying or construction management; AIQS membership beneficial but not essential
