Port Pirie Child Care Centre Inc. is a well-established, community-based, not-for-profit early childhood service committed to providing high-quality education and care for children and families in our region.

We are seeking two motivated and passionate Room Leaders to lead our Babies Room and Kindy Room, working collaboratively with educators, families and service leadership to create warm, inclusive and engaging learning environments.

About the Roles:

As Room Leader, you will lead and support your room’s educator team, guiding high-quality education and care aligned with the Early Years Learning Framework (EYLF) and National Quality Framework (NQF).

Babies Room Leader

You will lead a nurturing, responsive environment where strong relationships, individual routines and meaningful learning experiences support our youngest children.

Applicants must hold an ACECQA-approved Diploma of Early Childhood Education and Care, or be actively working towards this qualification.

This position will be classified at Level 6 under the Children’s Services Award.

Kindy Room Leader / Early Childhood Teacher

You will lead a play-based learning program that supports children’s curiosity, confidence and development. This role will also include leading the implementation and delivery of the Flying Start three-year-old preschool program in 2027.

Applicants must hold an ACECQA-approved Early Childhood Teaching qualification and current registration with the Teachers Registration Board of South Australia, or be working towards this qualification and eligible and willing to obtain a Special Authority to Teach.

Remuneration and classification will be confirmed according to qualifications, experience and the applicable award.

Key Responsibilities:

- Lead,



mentor and support a team of educators to deliver high-quality education and care.
- Plan, implement and evaluate engaging, play-based learning programs aligned with the EYLF.
- Create safe, inclusive and welcoming environments that respond to children’s individual needs.
- Build robust, respectful relationships with children, families and colleagues.
- Guide observations, documentation and reflective practice to support children’s learning and development.
- Support compliance with the National Quality Framework and contribute to continuous improvement.
- For the Kindy role, lead the planning and delivery of the Flying Start preschool program.

Essential Requirements:

- The relevant qualification or study pathway outlined above.
- Sound knowledge of the EYLF and National Quality Standards.
- Experience in early childhood education and care, with demonstrated leadership skills or readiness to step into a leadership role.
- Confidence in curriculum planning, documentation and reflective practice.
- Strong communication, organisational and teamwork skills.
- A commitment to child safety, inclusion and respectful relationships.
- A current South Australian Working with Children Check.
- Current required child protection training and approved first aid qualifications, including CPR, asthma and anaphylaxis management.
