Wonthaggi
They say ‘if you love your job, you’ll never work a day in your life’. At Highview, we believe loving your job starts with the right environment, the right people and meaningful work that makes a difference.
We’re a multi-award-winning accounting and financial advisory firm with offices across Victoria and Queensland and 25 years of experience helping individuals and businesses succeed. More than just a workplace, Highview is a place where careers are built, ideas are encouraged, and people are genuinely supported.
We’re looking for an Accountant to join our Bass Coast team on a full time basis, based in our Wonthaggi office. You’ll work with a variety of clients, including sole traders, small businesses and farming clients, and enjoy the close client relationships of a regional practice, backed by the systems, training and career pathways of a larger firm, all without the daily city commute.
About You
- A Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or Economics.
- Your CA or CPA, or you’re enrolled and actively working towards it. We’ll support you to get there.
- Have a minimum of 3 years hands-on experience in Australian public practice accounting.
- Sound knowledge of tax matters, including Division 7A, GST and FBT.
- Experience using Xero. Knowledge of FYI Elite is a bonus, but we’ll train you if it’s new to you.
- High level of accuracy & analytical thinking.
- Excellent communication skills and a knack for problem-solving.
About the role
As an Accountant at Highview you will:
- Prepare and review financial statements and tax returns for individuals, partnerships, trusts, and companies, ensuring compliance with all relevant legislation and deadlines.
- Support the preparation and execution of tax planning strategies and initiatives under the guidance of your manager, helping clients optimise their tax positions.
- Communicate directly with clients to respond to their queries, provide guidance on accounting matters, and foster strong professional relationships.
- Act as a liaison with the ATO and other third parties on behalf of clients as required, ensuring timely and accurate resolution of any outstanding matters.
Employee Benefits:
- Study support to help you complete your CA or CPA, plus ongoing professional development to keep your skills sharp and current.
- Maintain a healthy work-life balance with flexible working hours and the option to work in a hybrid mode, giving you the freedom to manage your schedule effectively.
- Take advantage of clearly defined career progression opportunities, with multiple pathways available so you can choose the direction that aligns best with your personal and professional ambitions.
This is a permanent position, so we’re looking for someone who is an Australian citizen, a permanent resident or holds full Australian work rights.
Please note that only shortlisted candidates will be contacted.
