Role Description

We are looking for a Salesforce Functional Consultant with a strong accounting background and at least five years of Salesforce experience. Experience with Certinia is highly desirable, particularly Certinia Accounting.

This role is for someone who understands accounting principles, enjoys working directly with customers, and can translate business requirements into practical system solutions. Your accounting background may come from formal education, professional qualifications, or relevant work experience. Previous employment in an accounting or finance role is desirable but not essential.

You should be ready to contribute from the outset, helping customers resolve support issues, understand system behaviour, and improve their processes. You will also contribute to implementation projects through requirements gathering, configuration, testing, documentation, and training.

Strong Salesforce configuration skills are essential. Experience with Apex and Lightning Web Components is desirable, but the primary focus of the role is functional consulting, accounting processes, and customer support. Your instinct should be to understand the problem first and apply technology appropriately.

Key Responsibilities

- Work directly with customers to investigate and resolve support issues across Salesforce and related business applications.




- Apply accounting knowledge to understand finance processes, investigate issues, and assess potential solutions.
- Understand clients’ current processes, challenges, and objectives.
- Support and lead workshops and discussions to clarify requirements.
- Translate business needs into clear requirements and practical solution designs.
- Configure Salesforce and, where applicable, Certinia using standard application capabilities and declarative tools.
- Work with developers where custom development is required.
- Perform system testing, validation, and quality assurance.
- Document solutions, processes, and system behaviours clearly and accurately.
- Help customers use their systems effectively through training and practical guidance.
- Support deployment and post-implementation activities.
- Contribute to continuous improvement of internal delivery approaches and standards.

Skills and Experience

Essential

- At least five years’ experience working with Salesforce.
- An accounting background, gained through education, professional qualifications, or relevant experience.
- A sound understanding of accounting principles and core finance processes, including general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and financial reporting.
- Demonstrated ability to configure Salesforce using standard platform capabilities.
- Ability to investigate system issues, identify causes, and explain solutions clearly to customers.




- Strong communication skills and confidence engaging with business users.
- Structured thinking and problem-solving ability.
- Solid attention to detail, particularly in testing and documentation.

Highly Desirable

- Experience implementing, configuring, or supporting Certinia, particularly Certinia Accounting.
- Experience with other Certinia applications, including PSA and Revenue Management.

Desirable

- Previous experience working in an accounting or finance role.
- Experience supporting customers in a consulting or business systems environment.
- Experience with Apex and Lightning Web Components.
- Relevant Salesforce or Certinia certifications.

Education

- A university degree is required.
- An accounting background is essential; a degree in Accounting, Commerce, Business, or a related field with accounting studies is preferred.
- A technology related qualification is beneficial alongside strong practical Salesforce capability.
