Tech Away Tech Away IT Solutions is seeking an experienced Security Technician to join our team in Melbourne. The successful candidate will be responsible for installing, setting up, servicing and troubleshooting electronic security systems across residential and commercial properties. The role involves working with CCTV cameras, alarm systems, intercoms and access control equipment to deliver reliable security solutions to our customers.

responsibilities Install, configure, test and commission electronic security systems, including CCTV cameras, intrusion alarms, intercoms and access control equipment. Set up and connect electronic security components, including control panels, sensors, cameras, card readers, recording devices and associated equipment. Diagnose technical faults in electronic security systems and undertake necessary repairs, adjustments or replacement of faulty components.

Carry out regular servicing and preventive maintenance of security equipment to ensure reliable operation. Install, terminate and test wiring and cabling associated with electronic security installations. Configure network connections, recording systems, remote access functions and software settings for electronic security devices.

Interpret wiring diagrams, installation plans and technical specifications to complete installations and repairs. Inspect and test installed equipment to identify operational issues and ensure systems function correctly. Prepare installation records, service reports and maintenance documentation.

Provide technical assistance to customers,



explain system operation and assist with basic user training. Coordinate with customers, project teams and other trades to complete assigned work efficiently and safely. Ensure all installation, testing and maintenance activities comply with relevant Australian standards, safety procedures and applicable regulations.

Qualification &

experience Essential requirements: A minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in the installation, servicing or maintenance of electronic security systems. Practical experience with CCTV, alarm systems, intercoms or electronic access control equipment.

Current Victorian Private Security Individual

Licence appropriate to the duties. Current ACMA cabling registration appropriate to the cabling work performed. Current driver's licence and ability to travel to customer sites. Sound knowledge of electronic equipment, wiring and basic IP networking. Ability to diagnose technical problems and carry out repairs and maintenance. Ability to interpret technical diagrams and equipment manuals. Positive communication, organisational and problem solving skills.

Desirable qualifications and experience: A relevant diploma or technical qualification in electronics, electrical technology or a related field.

Experience with IP CCTV systems and network connected security equipment. Relevant industry training or certifications.
