High Craft Construction
Mount Barker
$90,000 base + 12% super + fully maintained Ford Ranger and fuel card — a ~$122k package. Finish at 2:30pm every Friday.
We’re looking for an A-grade carpenter who runs a site the way they’d want their own home built.
Not someone who needs a foreman over their shoulder. Someone who drives the day’s work, leads the apprentices beside them, and hands over work they’d put their name to — because at High Craft, you do.
You’ll work shoulder to shoulder with a senior crew who already set that standard every day. We need someone who can hold it from day one.
Who we are
High Craft Construction builds complex renovations, large extensions and high-finish homes across the Adelaide Hills and Eastern Suburbs. Existing structures, hidden conditions, architectural detail and clients who notice everything — that’s the work we choose.
We’re a small, deliberately selective team. Fewer projects, done properly. We compete on standard, never on price.
Our vision: We are the desired builder for unique, challenging and high-end projects.
Our mission: We create beautiful, functional spaces through high-quality craftsmanship in bespoke construction.
How we work
- High Standards — The finish is the finish, hidden or visible.
- Continuous Learning — Every job makes the next one better.
- Communication — Problems raised early, with a solution attached.
- Accountability — If it’s your site, it’s your result.
- Adaptability — Renovations surprise. Work the problem calmly.
The role
Our directors and Project Manager run each job from pre-start — programme, trade scheduling and sequencing, materials and selections. You run the site:
the day’s work, the labour and the finished product.
You’re our eyes on the ground. Renovations change as the walls come off, and you keep the directors and PM across the live scope as the day unfolds — the link that turns a valuable programme into a high-quality finished project.
- Drive the day’s work to programme, and flag what’s needed next before it’s needed
- Deliver complex renovation carpentry: set-out, structural alterations, framing, fix-out and finishing
- Lead and develop apprentices on the tools
- Work with trades on site and hold every stage to High Craft standard
- Keep the directors and PM updated on progress, issues and scope changes
- Be the calm, professional face of HCC in our clients’ homes
What you get
- $90,000 base salary, paid weekly
- 12% super on top — $10,800 a year
- Fully maintained Ford Ranger and fuel card — around $22,000 a year in value, with personal use by arrangement
- Fully equipped HCC tool trailers — you bring your hand tools, we supply the rest
- 38-hour week — 8:00am–4:30pm Monday to Thursday, 8:00am–2:30pm Friday
- Proper project support — a PM handling scheduling, ordering and selections, so you can focus on the build
- Varied,
high-end work — mostly Adelaide Hills and Eastern Suburbs, no two jobs the same
- Supported training — tickets, Certificate IV and leadership development
- Direct mentoring from the directors
- Uniform and PPE supplied
Leaders build leaders
We grow our leadership from within.
Senior Carpenter → Site Supervisor → Leadership Team The people leading this business in five years will be the ones who proved the standard on site and brought others up with them. Progression here is earned on capability, not tenure — and it is genuinely on offer.
You
- A-grade qualified carpenter with solid renovation and extension experience
- Multi-skilled, and confident working alongside the trades around you
- Have led apprentices or a small crew — or you’re ready to
- Read plans accurately and set out with precision
- Current SA driver’s licence, with any conditions disclosed to directors
- A bonus: Cert IV in Building & Construction, bathroom and wet-area experience, first aid, White Card
Above all: attention to detail, a real work ethic, genuine pride in the trade, clear communication, and the integrity to own the result.
This role isn’t for you if
- “Near enough” is good enough
- You’d rather be told what to do next than decide
- Problems are always someone else’s fault
- You want the same job every day To apply
