Job Responsibilities

Role Summary/Purpose:

We are looking for a Senior Data Engineer to perform functional & system development for real time processes through Ab Initio continuous flows. This is high visibility fast paced key initiative will integrate data across internal and external sources, provide analytical insights and integrate with our critical systems.

Essential Responsibilities:

- Participate in the agile development process.
- Develop functional and technical specifications from business requirements for the commercial platform.
- Help create project estimates and plans. Represent the engineering team in project meetings and solution discussions.
- Participate in the code review process.
- Ability to handle projects single handedly in a fast paced environment.
- Perform other duties and/or projects as assigned according to requirements.
- Bachelor's degree in an engineering field (such as Computer Science, IT, Electronics) and a minimum of 6 years of experience.
- Minimum 6 years’ experience working with and developing real time solutions in Ab Initio.
- Minimum 2 years’ experience working with cloud based tools, preferably google cloud.
- Expert in the following Ab Initio tools: GDE – Graphical Development Environment; Co>Operating System ; Control Center; Metadata Hub; Enterprise Meta>Environment; Enterprise Meta>Workplace Portal; Acquire>It; Express>It; Conduct>It; Data Quality Workplace; Query>It.




- Hands-on experience on writing shell scripts, complex sql queries and Git
- Ability to write abstracted, reusable code components.
- Programming experience in at least two of the following languages: Scala, Java or Python.

- Robust business acumen

- Critical Thinking and Creativity

- Performance tuning experience
- Experience in developing code in python will be an advantage.
- Familiar with Ab Initio, SQL, Big Query, GCP , Nexla, Python.
- Willingness to learn new technologies quickly.
- Knowledge of various business domains like retail, banking and telecom sector.
- Good oral, and written communication skills, as well as the willingness to collaborate across teams of internal and external technical staff, business analysts, software support and operations staff.
- Strong business acumen including a broad understanding of Synchrony Financial business processes and practices.

Primary Skills(Mandatory) : Ab Initio Continuous flows, GCP (Big Query, Pubsub, Cloud storage) , Python Secondary Skills : SQL (Oracle/Teradata), Nexla, Unix shell scripting.
