Want your science to influence how Queensland manages some of Australia's most key grazing landscapes and Great Barrier Reef catchments?
Join our Rockhampton team as a Senior Scientist (PO4) and use world-class monitoring and research to drive real environmental and agricultural outcomes. Through the Paddock to Reef Integrated Monitoring, Modelling and Reporting Program, you'll lead the analysis, interpretation and communication of findings from nationally significant projects, including the long-term Brigalow Catchment Study. Working with government, industry and research partners, you'll generate evidence that informs policy, improves grazing land management and supports water quality outcomes across Great Barrier Reef catchments.
Help shape the science behind Queensland's land management and Great Barrier Reef water quality improvements.
Join our Rockhampton-based team as a Senior Scientist (PO4) and play a leading role in delivering the scientific evidence underpinning the Paddock to Reef Integrated Monitoring, Modelling and Reporting Program.
Working with long-term monitoring datasets, including the renowned Brigalow Catchment Study (Department of Setting, Science and Innovation), you'll generate insights that inform policy, improve grazing land management and support better environmental outcomes across Great Barrier Reef catchments.
About the role: You will provide scientific leadership for paddock and sub-catchment monitoring projects across the Fitzroy Basin. You will analyse complex environmental datasets, evaluate the impacts of land management practices and translate scientific findings into meaningful information for government,
industry and producers.
A major focus of the role is leading analysis and publication arising from the Brigalow Catchment Study and the associated Paddock to Reef Fitzroy Grazing project. These nationally significant datasets provide a unique opportunity to improve understanding of the relationships between grazing management, productivity, soil condition and water quality.
What you'll do:
- Lead analysis and interpretation of environmental monitoring data;
- develop scientific reports, publications and evidence-based advice;
- contribute to nationally significant research;
- collaborate with researchers, producers and government agencies;
- provide scientific leadership within multidisciplinary teams; and
- communicate findings to technical and non-technical audiences.
Why join us?
You will contribute to one of Australia's most significant long-term grazing and catchment monitoring programs, work with unique datasets, collaborate with leading experts, publish impactful science and help deliver outcomes that benefit agricultural industries, regional communities and the Great Barrier Reef.
Who we're looking for:
An accomplished scientist with experience in environmental data analysis, scientific reporting, stakeholder engagement and project delivery, with a passion for applying science to solve real-world challenges.
Applications to remain current for 12 months.
