About the role

We are seeking a talented SOLIDWORKS Designer to join our team on a full-time basis at our Albion Park Rail, NSW facility. In this pivotal role, you will be responsible for creating detailed 3D models, technical drawings, and design documentation using SOLIDWORKS. As a SOLIDWORKS Designer, you will play a crucial part in bringing concepts to life and ensuring that designs are manufacturable, cost-effective, and meet all technical specifications.

Key responsibilities

- Develop detailed 3D CAD models and assemblies using SOLIDWORKS software
- Create comprehensive technical drawings and design documentation to support manufacturing.
- Collaborate with customers and manufacturers to understand design requirements and specifications
- Conduct design reviews and incorporate feedback to refine and optimise designs
- Ensure designs comply with relevant industry standards, regulations, and best practices
- Assist in the evaluation of design alternatives and provide recommendations for improvements
- Maintain accurate and organised design files and project documentation
- Support the design team in meeting project timelines and deliverables




- Liaise with customer to ensure designs are practical and cost-efficient for production

What we're looking for

- Demonstrated proficiency in SOLIDWORKS, including 3D modelling, assembly design, and drawing generation
- Strong understanding of industrial design principles, manufacturing processes, and design for manufacturability
- Experience creating technical drawings and design documentation to industry standards
- Knowledge of relevant design software and tools commonly used in industrial design
- Excellent attention to detail and ability to work to precise specifications
- Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams
- Problem-solving mindset with the ability to think creatively and propose innovative solutions
- Time management skills and ability to prioritise multiple projects simultaneously
- Experience with GD&T; (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing) is highly desirable
- Familiarity with CAM software or other design-related tools would be advantageous
