Job Title: Staff Specialist / Senior Staff Specialist - Gastroenterologist

Organization: Mackay Hospital and Health Service The Opportunity We are partnering with the Mackay Hospital and Health Service to recruit a motivated Gastroenterologist to join their dedicated Department of Medicine. This is a unique opportunity to provide specialist inpatient and outpatient gastroenterology services within a thriving regional hub.

You will work alongside a multidisciplinary team of 18 FTE physicians across various subspecialties, contributing to high-quality patient care in a collaborative and supportive setting. This role focuses on the clinical management of gastrointestinal and hepatobiliary disorders, with a specific emphasis on IBD patient care and consultation services. Key Responsibilities

- Deliver evidence-based, patient-centered care for a broad spectrum of gastrointestinal and hepatobiliary disorders.
- Perform upper and lower GI endoscopy with regular lists, supported by a specialist nurse and registrar.
- Provide consultation services and manage elective outpatient clinics.
- Contribute to acute medical care, multidisciplinary management, and clinical governance.
- Participate in departmental teaching schedules, including the education of Basic Physician Trainees and James Cook University medical students.
- Engage in service development and quality improvement activities,



such as mortality meetings and audits.
