Uniting College for Leadership & Theology (“UCLT”) is the tertiary college of the Uniting Church in Australia, Synod of South Australia. UCLT articulates its mission as being ‘Educating for the reconciliation and renewal of the world God loves.’ This sits within the vision of the Synod of South Australia to be ‘an innovative, growing church proclaiming Jesus Christ, empowered by the Spirit to transform God's world.’

Stepping Through the Gap (SttG) is a new year-long formation program for young adults who have recently completed Year 12 or are considering or undertaking other undergraduate study.

Commencing in 2027, the program provides an intentional year focused on faith, purpose and formation, supporting participants to grow in their maturity as disciples of Christ through personal and spiritual formation, academic learning, community engagement, leadership development, service opportunities and vocational discernment.

The SttG Coordinator plays a central role in the successful delivery of the program and the participant experience. Working closely with participants, faculty, mentors, congregations and partner organisations, the SttG Coordinator is responsible for:

- Coordinating and facilitating the weekly formation program,

- Fostering community and belonging,

- Providing pastoral support,

- Overseeing mentoring and spiritual formation activities,

- Coordinating retreats and immersion experiences,

- Supporting participants as they explore faith, leadership, service and vocation.

This appointment will be offered on casual employment terms and conditions. We anticipate that:
- Commencement of casual appointment will be week commencing 1 December 2026 up to 19 February 2027 for a maximum of 15 hours per week.





- This casual period will enable preparation and recruitment of program participants.

- On confirmation of the project viability in meeting the target quota of six (6) full-time participants, the position will transition to a fixed term employment contract to 17 November 2027.

- The ability to mentor, teach and guide young adults in their personal development, relationship-building, pastoral care and spiritual growth.

- The ability to work cooperatively, collaboratively and creatively as part of a broader team, while building positive and productive relationships.

- An understanding of, and willingness to work within, the ethos, values and polity of the Uniting Church.

- A demonstrated commitment to Christian faith, discipleship and active participation in the life of the Church.
