Manager, Tax & Accounting — Financial Services

Sydney | Global Banking Group A leading global financial institution is looking for an experienced Tax & Accounting Manager to lead its tax function locally. This is a senior, hands-on role covering compliance, reporting, advisory and team leadership across a full banking tax remit.

The role

You'll own the end-to-end tax function from BAS/IAS/PAYG and withholding tax through to income tax returns, transfer pricing, FBT, FATCA/CRS and Country-by-Country reporting. You'll review tax provisions and deferred tax positions, manage inter-office reconciliations, and act as the key point of contact for the ATO, external auditors and Head Office on all tax matters.

Beyond compliance, you'll advise the business on the tax implications of new products and transactions, keep senior stakeholders ahead of regulatory change,



and drive process and systems improvements across the tax function. You'll also mentor and upskill a small team, building depth and reducing key-person risk.

What you'll bring

- CA or CPA qualified, with 15 years' tax and audit experience at a senior level
- Deep knowledge of Australian tax law and accounting standards (NZ exposure a plus)
- Strong background in banking products and their tax/accounting treatment
- Proven experience managing budgets, forecasts and external advisors
- A track record of translating complex tax regulation into transparent, practical guidance for non-tax stakeholders
- Sharp attention to detail, strong governance instincts, and the ability to lead under pressure
