Project Manager – Civil Infrastructure and HDD About the Role n
Maxibor Australia is seeking a practical, hands-on Project Manager to join our team based at Jacobs Well, Queensland.
n
Maxibor is a specialist horizontal directional drilling contractor delivering trenchless infrastructure projects throughout Queensland and New South Wales.
n
This position would suit a Project Manager with approximately two to five years’ civil construction or infrastructure experience who is looking to broaden their project delivery experience within a specialist contractor.
n
The successful candidate will independently manage allocated projects from planning and mobilisation through to completion and close-out. The number, size and complexity of projects allocated will reflect the person’s experience.
n
This is a hands-on project delivery position rather than a senior management or departmental leadership role. The Project Manager will work closely with Maxibor’s operations, estimating, commercial and HSEQ personnel while remaining responsible for the day-to-day management of their allocated projects.
Key Responsibilities n
n
- Independently manage allocated HDD and civil infrastructure projects from award through to practical completion and close-out.
n
- Develop and maintain practical project programs, budgets, resource plans and cost forecasts.
n
- Coordinate drilling crews, project personnel, specialist plant, subcontractors, suppliers and materials.
n
- Plan project mobilisations and confirm that sites are ready for Maxibor’s crews and equipment.
n
- Liaise with clients, principal contractors, engineers, consultants and project stakeholders.
n
- Review project drawings, specifications, scopes of work and contractual requirements.
n
- Understand and administer the contracts for allocated projects, including scope, responsibilities, exclusions, notices, variations, extensions of time and payment claims.
n
- Monitor project productivity, costs and performance against the approved program and budget.
n
- Identify delays, variations,
latent conditions and other project issues and ensure the required records and notices are prepared.
n
- Prepare progress reports, cost reports, forecasts and other required project reporting.
n
- Conduct regular site visits to monitor progress, productivity, safety, quality and environmental compliance.
n
- Work with Maxibor’s HSEQ team to ensure compliance with company systems, client requirements and applicable legislation.
n
- Coordinate permits, inspections, quality records, daily reports and completion documentation.
n
- Manage day-to-day technical, operational and commercial issues and escalate significant matters when required.
n
- Maintain effective working relationships with clients, site personnel, subcontractors and suppliers.
n
- Participate in tender handovers, project start-up meetings and lessons-learned reviews.
n
- Ensure allocated projects are delivered safely, efficiently, on time and within budget.
n
Qualifications and Experience nn
- Approximately two to five years’ experience in civil construction or infrastructure project delivery.
n
- Experience managing or taking day-to-day responsibility for civil construction projects.
n
- Qualifications in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, Project Management or a related discipline are preferred.
n
- Experience in HDD, trenchless construction, pipelines, utilities or major civil works would be advantageous but is not essential.
n
- Working knowledge of construction programs, budgets, cost control and resource planning.
n
- Practical experience reviewing construction contracts and managing project documentation.
n
- Exposure to variations, delay notices,
extensions of time and progress claims.
n
- Ability to identify project and contractual risks and escalate significant issues when required.
n
- Strong organisational, communication and problem-solving skills.
n
- Confidence communicating with site personnel, clients, subcontractors and management.
n
- Competence in Microsoft Office and project planning or project management software.
n
- Strong commitment to safety, quality and environmental compliance.
n
- Current Australian driver’s licence.
n
- Construction Industry White Card.
n
- Willingness to travel to project sites throughout Queensland and New South Wales when required.
n
About You n
You will be practical, organised and comfortable working in a quick-moving construction environment.
n
You will have enough project delivery experience to independently manage the day-to-day requirements of your allocated projects while recognising when a significant technical, contractual or commercial issue needs to be escalated.
n
You will communicate clearly, maintain accurate project records and identify potential issues before they affect project safety, cost or program.
n
This position is suited to someone who enjoys being directly involved in project delivery and wants exposure to specialist HDD and trenchless infrastructure works.
What Maxibor Offers n
- Base salary of $85,000 to $130,000 plus superannuation, depending on qualifications and experience.
n
- A permanent, full-time position with an established specialist HDD contractor.
n
- Exposure to technically challenging civil infrastructure and trenchless projects.
n
- The opportunity to manage allocated projects across Queensland and New South Wales.
n
- A practical role involving both office-based and on-site responsibilities.
n
- A collaborative working environment with experienced drilling, construction, commercial and HSEQ personnel.
n
- Opportunities to broaden your civil infrastructure and specialist HDD experience..
