Fleet Scheduler / Fleet Controller – Welshpool
Join an established WA transport company where excellent communication, dependability and taking ownership make the difference.
About Us
Jolly & Sons is a proudly family-owned and operated transport and logistics company, servicing Western Australia and the Northern Territory since 1963.
With an extensive fleet and established transport network, we pride ourselves on delivering reliable, professional transport solutions to our customers.
Our business is built on three core values: Great Communication, Dependability and a Growth Mindset.
We are looking for someone who shares these values and wants to be part of a hardworking, supportive team.
About the Role
We are seeking an experienced, organised and proactive Fleet Scheduler to join our busy Welshpool operations team.
This is a hands-on operational role responsible for coordinating our daily metropolitan fleet activities, allocating work to drivers and ensuring customer collections and deliveries are completed safely, efficiently and on time.
You'll be working closely with drivers, operational supervisors, customer service and our linehaul team to keep freight moving and ensure daily commitments are met.
No two days are the same. Priorities change, unexpected challenges arise and schedules need adjusting. We need someone who can think ahead, remain calm under pressure and take ownership of getting the job done.
Most importantly, we're looking for someone who communicates well, follows through on commitments and doesn't wait to be told what needs doing.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan, coordinate and optimise daily fleet schedules, driver allocations and delivery runs.
- Supervise and support a small team of metropolitan drivers and couriers.
- Monitor fleet movements and proactively manage delays, disruptions and changing priorities.
- Liaise with drivers, customers and internal departments to ensure clear and timely communication.
- Maximise fleet utilisation and operational efficiency while maintaining service standards.
- Coordinate freight collections and deliveries to meet customer requirements and operational deadlines.
- Ensure compliance with Chain of Responsibility, fatigue management, load restraint and relevant transport safety requirements.
- Maintain accurate job allocations, consignment information and operational records within our Transport Management System (TMS).
- Identify operational inefficiencies and contribute practical solutions to improve productivity and service delivery.
- Take ownership of daily operational challenges and ensure issues are followed through to resolution.
About You
We're looking for someone who enjoys the challenge of a busy transport environment, takes pride in their work and understands the importance of delivering on commitments.
To be successful, you will have:
- Minimum 1–2 years' experience in fleet scheduling, fleet control or a similar transport operations role.
- Previous experience within the transport and logistics industry.
- Strong understanding of metropolitan transport operations, fleet allocation and delivery scheduling.
- Experience using Transport Management Systems and confidence working with computers and tablets.
- Good knowledge of Chain of Responsibility and transport safety requirements.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, particularly when dealing with drivers and operational teams.
- Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage competing priorities.
- A practical, solutions-focused approach to problem-solving.
- High attention to detail and a commitment to completing tasks accurately.
- A dependable, accountable and proactive work ethic.
- Full Australian working rights.
Highly Regarded
- Experience coordinating multi-vehicle metropolitan pick-up and delivery operations.
- Knowledge of Perth metropolitan transport routes and industrial areas.
- Experience with load restraint and freight handling requirements.
- Experience supervising or coordinating drivers.
- Familiarity with transport productivity, fleet utilisation and operational KPIs.
The Type of Person We're Looking For
We value attitude and initiative just as much as experience.
We're looking for someone who:
- Takes ownership – Accepts responsibility and follows tasks through to completion.
- Communicates proactively – Keeps drivers, customers and colleagues informed, particularly when things don't go to plan.
- Thinks ahead – Anticipates problems and acts before they become bigger issues.
- Stays organised under pressure – Can manage a busy workload without losing attention to detail.
- Works as part of a team – Builds positive relationships and supports those around them.
- Looks for improvements – Challenges inefficient processes and finds better ways of doing things.
If you're someone who enjoys keeping operations running smoothly and takes satisfaction in a well-executed day's work, we'd like to hear from you.
What We Offer
- Stable, full-time employment with an established family-owned business.
- Supportive and approachable management team.
- Prospect to develop your skills and progress your career.
- A varied and rewarding role where your contribution makes a genuine difference.
- Up-to-date transport systems and an established operational network.
- Convenient Kewdale location.
- Competitive remuneration based on experience and capability.
