The Opportunity n

An exciting opportunity exists for an experienced Packaging Manager to lead packaging operations at our Berri site.

n

Reporting to the Packaging Manager AU, this is a Full-time, Permanent role and is responsible for overseeing production activities to ensure production is delivered on time, within specification and within budget across a 24/5 packaging operation. The operation includes multiple production lines covering still wine, sparkling wine and cask packaging.

The Packaging Manager will lead a high-performing team, drive continuous improvement initiatives, promote a lean manufacturing culture and create a protected, productive and progressive working environment.

Key Responsibilities Operations & Production n

n
- Deliver production activities in accordance with the production plan and budget requirements.
n
- Drive machine efficiency, labour productivity and operational performance.
n
- Promote continuous improvement and lean manufacturing principles.
n
- Ensure departmental standard operating procedures remain current and are followed.
n
- Promote a quality-first culture across packaging operations.
n

Leadership nn
- Lead, coach and develop the Packaging Operations team.
n
- Manage performance, safety, attendance, work standards and operational efficiencies.
n
- Ensure employees are appropriately trained and competent to perform their roles.
n
- Build a culture of teamwork, accountability and continuous improvement.




n
- Support return-to-work programs and workforce planning initiatives.
n

Safety, Quality & Compliance nn
- Promote and maintain a safe workplace and ensure compliance with company policies and procedures.
n
- Support compliance with quality standards through the application of standard operating procedures.
n
- Ensure internal auditing requirements are completed.
n
- Support certification and risk management systems, including HACCP, BRC, ISO9000 and ISO14000.
n

Budget & Reporting nn
- Support the management of packaging budgets.
n
- Manage team leave planning and workforce rostering.
n
- Contribute to capital planning activities.
n
- Analyse and report operational and budget performance.
n
- Approve payroll transactions within Kronos and ensure accurate operational reporting.
n

Qualifications and Experience Essential nn
- Minimum 5 years' functional management experience in a large-scale multi-shift packaging production operation
n
- Demonstrated leadership capability with the ability to lead, motivate and develop teams.
n
- Intermediate computer literacy in Microsoft Word, Excel, Project and database systems, including CMMS.
n
- Sound business and financial acumen.
n

Desirable nn
- Tertiary qualifications in Engineering, Lean Manufacturing, Food Technology or Business Management.
n
- Previous experience within the wine industry will be highly regarded.
n

Additional Requirements nn
- Current driver's licence.
n
- Flexibility to work outside normal business hours when required.
n
- Availability for occasional business travel.
n
- Willingness to undertake additional training required for the role.
n
