WEEKEND PERSONAL SUPPORT WORKERS n

(Bargaining Unit Position)

Mission Statement: Homes First Society develops and provides affordable, secure housing and support services to break the cycle of homelessness for people with the fewest housing options.

n

Position Type: Part-time, Permanent

n

Location: Adelaide St West and Richmond St W

n

Hours of Work: (a) Saturdays and Sundays, 8am-4pm; and

n

(b) Saturdays and Sundays, 12:30pm-8:30pm

n

Start Date: ASAP

n

Salary: $28.76 per hour (As per Collective Agreement)

Job Description n

n
- Assist clients with residency, meals, room cleaning, grooming and hygiene, laundry, recreational and leisure activities and health monitoring
n
- Arrange, remind and/or escort clients to medical, psychiatric, dental and diagnostic appointments and/or treatments
n
- Communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing
n
- Excellent time management skills
n
- About to work independently and in inter-dependent teams
n
- Update client files accordingly, keep accurate records and document daily information
n
- Other duties as required
n

Qualifications nn
- Personal Support Worker Certification or equivalent work experience.
n
- Knowledge of mental health issues and several years' experience working with people with mental health issues.
n
- Certificates in First Aid,



CPR and Crisis Prevention
n
- Ability to work shifts.
n
- Knowledge of and/or experience with the homeless population, diversity issues, anti-discrimination practices and systemic reasons for homelessness an asset
n
- Excellent interpersonal skills
n
- Certificate of Completion of Homelessness Learning Hub's Harm Reduction for the Homelessness Sector considered an asset
n

n

Working in an environment where there may be smoke is required.
n Working in a pet friendly environment.

n

The successful applicant must provide a criminal record check that is satisfactory to Homes First Society.
