Role Description The Passive Fire Protection Technician is a full-time, on-site role based in the Greater Sydney Area. The technician will install, maintain, and repair passive fire systems, including fire-resistant walls and floors, fire stopping solutions, fire-rated doors and glazing, and structural fire protection elements in accordance with Australian standards and project specifications. Daily tasks include reading and interpreting drawings, preparing work areas and materials, performing fireproofing of joints and gaps, sealing penetrations, and assisting with inspections, testing, and documentation for compliance and certification.





The role involves close coordination with site supervisors and project managers, adherence to EHS requirements, safe use of tools and equipment, and accurate reporting of work completed. The technician will also support continuous improvement in safety, quality, and efficiency in office.

Qualifications

- Practical experience in installing and maintaining passive fire protection systems (e.g., fire stopping, fire-resistant barriers, fire-rated doors and glazing).
- Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, specifications, and compliance documentation related to fire protection.
- Strong understanding of Australian building and fire safety standards, codes, and regulatory requirements.
- Commitment to EHS best practices, including safe work procedures, risk identification, and use of personal protective equipment.
- Relevant trade qualification or certification in passive fire protection, carpentry, construction, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
- Experience working on commercial or infrastructure projects, preferably within the passive fire or broader fire safety sector.
- Good communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to work effectively with supervisors, engineers, and other trades on-site.
- High attention to detail, reliable work ethic, and ability to complete tasks efficiently while maintaining quality standards.
- Valid driver’s license and ability to travel to different sites within the Greater Sydney Area as required.
