About the role

Catalano Truck & Equipment Sales & Hire Pty Ltd is seeking a Truck Body Builder Apprentice / Fabricator Assistant to join our dynamic team in Kenwick, WA. This is a full-time position offering an excellent opportunity to develop your skills in truck body construction and metal fabrication. You will work alongside experienced tradespeople, learning the craft of building and modifying truck bodies whilst contributing to the creation of high-quality commercial vehicles. This role is perfect for someone looking to build a rewarding career in the trades.

What you'll be doing

- Assisting experienced truck body builders and boilermakers in the construction and fabrication of truck bodies and components

- Preparing materials and workstations to ensure effective workflow and safety standards are maintained

- Performing welding, cutting, and shaping of metal components under supervision

- Assembling truck body sections and fixtures using hand tools and power tools

- Fitting and securing components such as panels, frames, and attachments to specifications

- Maintaining and cleaning work areas, tools, and equipment in accordance with site safety protocols

- Supporting quality control by inspecting work and reporting any defects or issues

- Learning and applying safe work practices and procedures relevant to fabrication and welding operations

- Assisting with loading, unloading, and positioning materials and completed vehicles as required

What we're looking for

- A genuine interest in the trades, particularly welding, metal fabrication, or truck body building

- Physical fitness and the ability to perform manual labour in a workshop environment

- Attention to detail and a commitment to producing quality work

- Strong safety awareness and willingness to adhere to all workplace safety requirements

- Ability to work as part of a team and take direction from experienced tradespeople





- Willingness to learn new skills and take on responsibility as competency develops

- Relevant trade qualifications or formal training in welding, fabrication, or boilermaking (preferred)

- Current or ability to obtain a White Card or equivalent construction safety certification (preferred)

- Previous experience as a fabrication or welding assistant or apprentice (preferred)

- A valid driver's licence and reliable transport (preferred)
